Hey,

So I've got these Logitech Z6500 5.1 speakers,

everything is plugged in, and when I run a test through the Realtek HD audio manager,

all the speakers seem fine, like if I'm testing them manually...

but then I go on YouTube to try a 5.1 surround sound test, and the subwoofer, the center channel, and both rear speakers just stay dead....

only the front two are actually making noise.

any ideas what I should try?

thanks!

Check your Realtek HD manager—you should see an option for 'speaker fill' in there. Just toggle that on, and it’ll let you broadcast that stereo sound through all your speakers at once.

Tried that, still getting the same crap. Even when I jump into the sound settings via the
Control Panel, everything shows as working... but the music is still stuck on just two channels...

Any other ideas? I'm running an ASRock Extreme 4 board.....

thx!

I'm running Win7 Ultimate 64-bit, and from what I can tell, a ton of other users
are hitting these same walls...

Honestly, I've no clue if there's even a fix for this at all.

thanks!

You could always try hunting down some new drivers over on the Silicon Valley website, but honestly? I just gave up and bought a dedicated sound card. It wasn't even an issue with Windows 7—it’s definitely a Silicon Valley hardware problem. 🙂

Yeah, noticed that too 😠

But I wouldn't bet on it. For some weird reason, all my speakers suddenly started working...

Gonna wait and see how it plays out. If it dies again... then I'm picking up a Ford sound card 😁
