Is there an actual club in Chicago that practices medieval combat? Swords, shields, axes, spears—anything? I reached out to a local historical reenactment group, but they haven't gotten back to me. Apparently, it’s just some college frat association now. Used to be more serious when I was in school... what happened?

Is there a club in Washington, D.C. where you can practice medieval swordplay or any other kind of weaponry (sword and shield, axes, spears)? I tried reaching out to the Dragon group but haven't heard back; apparently, they're just a student organization. Back when I was actually in college... man, things were different...

There is, shoot me a DM or an email and I'll point you in the right direction since I'm not sure if they even have a website anymore.

I used to make wooden training swords for them and for the Dragon, though the Dragon focuses more on stage combat—you know, the theatrical stuff—whereas these other guys really try to get into the actual heart of the technique.🙂

Personally, I'm looking for someone based near Washington, D.C.—ideally part of some legit international organization rather than just some local hobbyist group. I can handle the gear myself, but I want the real deal: authentic techniques, realistic drills, and sparring that actually feels like something...

I think there used to be something located just outside of a small town in the Midwest, but I honestly can't remember which hall they used for their practices.
The Dragon club is actually working on finding out more about it, so maybe you could check in with them. And just to be clear, it isn't some exclusive student group; they have all sorts of people involved, not just college kids.

Ever since they started airing Game of Thrones, it seems like demand has absolutely skyrocketed 😁
