Last week, I had to get some stitches in my finger after a rather nasty cut. 😒 It wasn't particularly painful until today, though. I’ve been heading in every couple of days to have the dressing changed, but today there is this bizarre sensation in my fingerβ€”almost like a million ants are crawling under the skin. It feels tight, and there is a slight numbness. 😒 I am unsure if this is standard procedure, a sign of healing, or something else entirely. When I saw the doctor yesterday for my bandage change, he mentioned that it was healing well, but I didn't experience this sensation then. Now, I am at a loss. I have never had stitches before (:frown:) and I have no idea how these types of wounds are supposed to "behave."

Help! πŸ™

Everything you're saying makes senseβ€”it’s quite logical. Once the skin finally heals back together, you'll likely feel that sensation again due to the sutures in your finger. It might even persist for a little while after they're removed.

Thanks πŸ˜‰

Honestly, I would give anything to just take this bandage off... it is incredibly irritating πŸ™‚ πŸ™„

Did you actually mention that sensation to your doctor? Honestly, just book an appointment and go get checked out. If they tell you everything is fine, then yeah, it’s a bit of a hassle and a waste of an afternoon. But if there’s some underlying complication you aren't aware of, you'll save yourself a massive headache down the road.

If you're feeling numbness or tingling in your finger, it usually means there’s nerve damage involved. You really ought to mention this to your doctor, because it isn't just a side effect of the stitches. I’ve had sutures before on several different occasions and never experienced anything like this, but when my nerve was actually damaged, everything felt completely numb.
