Not sure where to go for info on this, so I'll just drop the question here.
I know clones are allowed, and I know you aren't supposed to use two different profiles to push the same argument in one thread.
But what about this specific scenario?
If my boyfriend and I are using the same computer, and he has a certain opinion on a topic while I either agree or disagree—but we both post our own views from our separate accounts—is that against the rules?

One more thing: if he ends up getting banned or, God forbid, gets permanently blacklisted from the site, am I going to catch heat for him too😢 ?? If so, I'm going to have to block him from these pages.😁

It’s not just about checking an IP address. If you actually have two different people operating under the same IP, it’s going to be obvious eventually.

If I posted something a long time ago with this current account, would it be okay to jump back into that same thread with a new account, provided we're talking about something completely different that has nothing to do with my previous post...

Is it allowed to comment on the same thread using both profiles? I don't mean talking to myself, but rather contributing to those massive mega-threads where everyone posts their own specific issues. If I commented on a thread ages ago with my current account, could I jump back in with a new one if the discussion shifts to a completely different topic unrelated to my old post?

You aren't allowed to participate in the same conversation using two different handles, even if it's within the same thread. Basically, if it's a massive group thread, it contains many distinct conversations.

What I meant was more about using one profile to comment on one specific discussion, and then using another account to chime in on a completely different conversation, where the two topics don't even overlap, except for the fact that they happen to be sitting under the same umbrella thread, most likely some kind of massive collection topic...

What if I just set up one user profile on my home PC and a different one for when I'm at work or down at the local library? How on earth are you going to prove I’m not just having a conversation with myself, especially since I'd be logging in from the exact same physical location?

Look, as long as those two topics aren't overlapping and your old issue isn't even relevant anymore (even if it's still sitting there in the same big discussion thread), then yeah, you're good to go. You can present a new problem under your new handle without having to bring up the old account or any other clones you might have.

Honestly, you've already been given an answer to this, and frankly, it's the most important thing for you to keep in mind here.
