I picked up a PC that came with Windows XP pre-installed, but the OS is in German. It’s also loaded with a bunch of other software I want to keep. Does anyone know how I can install Windows XP in English without wiping my hard drive, losing all my files, or nuking the existing programs?
Thanks.

Can I just pop in a Windows XP disc and run an upgrade over the German version to switch it to English while keeping everything else intact?🤷

Can you just wipe German out through Add/Remove Programs? If that doesn't work, maybe try Googling this based on whatever service pack you're running:

Here’s the issue with this page

''...This download is intended for users running a genuine Microsoft Windows operating system. Click the Continue button to begin the Windows authenticity check. As outlined in the privacy statement, Microsoft will not use any information gathered during this verification process to identify you or contact you.''

Is there a more straightforward way to handle this?

if I remember correctly, you’re gonna need

some decent English language pack 👍

just install it, and once you reboot, everything should switch over to English automatically. plus, if it turns out to be a pain, you can just uninstall it whenever you want 👍

is there a way to do this that isn't such a massive headache?

Look, if you're rocking a pirated version of Windows, just hit up Google—piracy isn't exactly welcome on this board.
