About a month ago, I decided to pick up these headphones:

eBay

And right out of the gate, I noticed this button was already cracked, just like you can see in the photo here:

To be honest, I wasn't too concerned about that at first... as long as they actually functioned, I figured I could live with a little cosmetic damage...
But after running perfectly fine for about a month, they just suddenly quit on me altogether. Now, whenever I plug them in, my computer throws this warning message at me:
Warning

Does anyone happen to have any insight or know a fix for this kind of thing?

Thanks so much!!

Does anyone have any idea? I'm feeling a bit lost here. :/

Advertise away.
Unless you picked this up through eBay—in which case, I’d be pretty skeptical about your ability to actually claim a warranty—but feel free to set me straight if I've got that wrong.

Try plugging it into a different USB port, or just test it on another computer

I tried testing the hardware on a different computer, but it’s still not working at all 😢((
And get this—some guy over at a local hardware store gave me the advice that I should reach out to Logitech US directly, but as I'm browsing through their official website, it looks like they don't even offer technical support in my language?

You bought this through eBay? Honestly, what's the point of reaching out to Logitech US or any official Logitech office? As far as I know, you won't have any kind of warranty protection. You might as well just toss them in the trash and buy something else. 🙂That’s your only real option if they don't even work. I don't see how ordering headsets like these on eBay makes any sense when you can just buy them locally with a full 2-year warranty. What are you actually saving? Maybe $100--$50 or even less once you factor in customs fees, all while having zero coverage. But hey, if you're obsessed with them, here's a link where you can actually buy them properly: 🙂🙂🙂

Honestly, if they're totally dead, your best bet might just be tossing them in the trash and picking up something else entirely. 🙂 That’s really your only option if they aren't working. I honestly can't see the logic in ordering headsets like that via eBay when you can buy them right here in the States with a full two-year warranty—for what, a savings of maybe $100--$50 or even less once you factor in those unexpected customs fees and the fact that you're left without protection. But hey, if you're absolutely set on having them, here is a link where you can find them 🙂🙂🙂

Well, look, a guy at a local shop told me that if I just mention the store's name and claim I lost my receipt, they might be able to tell me if there's any way to get help... is it even possible that it's just the USB connector that died? And if that's the case, is it something that can actually be replaced?

Logitech doesn't actually handle peripheral repairs in-house.
If you have a valid receipt, you can still make a warranty claim—usually by shooting them an email to explain what’s gone wrong. Most of the time, they’ll send over a case number, which you then have to print out, snap a photo of next to the device, and then... well, you usually have to destroy the faulty unit and take a photo of that too, alongside the case number, before they finally ship out a replacement. (It's something along those lines—I haven't personally navigated the whole process myself, but I've heard that's how their method works from several different sources...)

Hi,
My question might be a bit off-topic, but it’s closely related to the main thread.
I picked up a Creative USB headset Fatal1ty, but I'm hitting a wall trying to get both the headphones and the mic working together. I've scoured every forum tip out there, but nothing sticks. Right now, the system recognizes the mic—so I can record audio—but I can't hear any of it through the headset, only through my speakers. Even the recordings I make won't play back through the headphones. My setup is running Windows XP with a Realtek HD sound card; my ATI chip is disabled, and I'm using a Biostar TP43D2-A7 motherboard. Any advice on how to force the headset to actually play the microphone input?

Thanks.

Are we looking at the version with the standard audio jacks, or is this one using USB?
Are you using any other peripherals from the same speaker set? Also, have you double-checked that the headset is actually set as the default playback device within Windows and inside the specific app you're trying to use?

The headset connects via USB, and I have speakers plugged in too. In Windows, I disabled the default device settings and manually set the headset as the primary. When I switch back to using the default device, my headset mic goes completely dead—I can't hear anything, even when testing through Voice Recorder. To make matters worse, I can't hear any audio through the speakers because the system insists on routing everything to the headset. Strangely enough, if I record something via Voice Recorder, I can hear the playback through the speakers, but not through the headset itself.

It’s highly likely that your Voice Recorder is set to a standard audio output by default. You might want to dig into the settings to see if you can manually switch the output device—I can't verify the exact menu path for you right now since I'm running Linux, but it should be in there somewhere. Have you tried testing it through an app like Skype? They have this handy feature where you can call a test contact to hear an echo of your own voice—it's actually a perfect way to fine-tune your headset 🙂

Thanks for the tip. I finally got both the mic and the headphones working together. Just like you suggested, I switched the input device in Voice Memos and everything clicked. Man, I wasted so much time fighting with a single microphone. I honestly thought switching to USB would make things plug-and-play simple, but clearly, I was wrong.

Thanks again.
