Login issues

Clear your cookies. Just be careful how you go about it. If you wipe everything out, you'll get logged out of all your other sites too.

I’ve always been pretty diligent about clearing my cookies—it's just a habit, I suppose. But lately, I’ve actually gone ahead and adjusted my settings so the browser automatically wipes them every single time I close out of the window.

Sometimes I try to check the forums on my phone, and I run into this incredibly annoying issue with the login process. It’s not even that the credentials don't work—I can log in just fine—but then, after maybe only a few seconds, it kicks me right back out. It makes it impossible to actually read anything. I guess I have to go through the whole login cycle at least three times just to get through a single post. I'm using AT&T for my data connection when I'm out and about.

Well, here I am again. Even after following all the advice I was given, I'm still running into this glitch every once in a while. Basically, after I enter my username and password and check the box to stay logged in, absolutely nothing happens—it just kicks me right back to the page I was already on without actually logging me in. It isn't a huge deal, since I can just log in manually a second time, but I wanted to mention that the remember me option doesn't seem to be working consistently.

I’m running into similar issues here, especially since the forum underwent maintenance a few days ago.
Honestly, I don't know how many times I've tried logging in, but it keeps resetting to the start. I'm using FF4 and I regularly visit six other forums where I never have these kinds of glitches, let alone anything this specific.
Ever since the database maintenance or whatever you guys were doing... this is what I get: http://example.com/showthread

Nothing works. I tried typing the URL manually, then tried Mozilla, and still nothing. Internet Explorer 8 actually works fine, but when I switch back to FF, it won't accept my login. These problems started right after you guys serviced the database; everything seems okay now though, so I can finally actually post something. 😛

This issue clearly isn't new...

Same old story. I log in, it says thanks, then kicks me right back to the login screen...

And honestly, it wouldn't be such a headache if I wasn't already logged into the forum in another tab.😁
It’s like, say I'm deep in a thread where everyone's arguing about whether Batman should have joined the Justice League😂...so I open a second tab to Google something, which leads me back here. Suddenly, I can't log in at all in that second tab. I guess the site thinks I'm already signed in because of the first tab, so it just refuses to let me in.🤷

Basically... if I'm clicking links from my Gmail notifications, I can have 300 tabs open and stay logged in on all of them without a hitch. But if I try to navigate to the forum manually in a new tab? It won't let me sign in, no matter how many times I hit refresh, clear my cache, or do whatever else I can think of.

This hasn't been a one-off thing either. It's been going on long enough that it feels almost normal now. It's just exhausting having to go back to my original tab—wherever I was stuck—just to find my way to the specific thread I actually wanted to read.

Sucks.
