Hey, does anyone happen to know any of the surgeons over at MD Anderson Cancer Center? My mom needs surgery for a facial tumor and I'm honestly just lost on which surgeon would be the best fit for her... I'd really appreciate any leads or info you guys might have.

If you have any say in the matter, try heading to the Mayo Clinic or Johns Hopkins Hospital instead. To be blunt, I’ve been hearing nothing but bad news lately from people getting treated there. I can't put my finger on exactly what went wrong, but it feels like the Institute itself has really gone downhill. It isn't even just about the surgical side; if things take a turn and she needs oncology, you're in trouble. Once you're locked into their system for treatment, trying to transfer somewhere else is basically an impossible mission because of how these hospitals cut costs.

It's for an older lady, and she's pretty frail... she's got this kind of crusty thing on her face, looks like a tumor. It’s grown a little bit, but it isn't malignant or anything. It just bothers her, so she wants it taken off. The doctor at the MD Anderson Cancer Center said it should be a super simple procedure under local anesthesia, but since she's older, I’d hate for her to end up feeling worse after the surgery than she does now. I mean, she doesn't strictly *need* the surgery, it's not like it's causing major issues otherwise...
thanks for the heads up. I don't really know anything about that hospital and I'm feeling a bit uneasy about it now, so... we might just check with the Mayo Clinic. Probably best to get it done there. thanks again

Look, you can head over to Johns Hopkins Hospital for maxillofacial surgery. They specialize in head and neck tumors and they actually know what they're doing there. Honestly, age doesn't even matter in this case; there aren't any contraindications that would stop them from removing a facial tumor under local anesthesia. Just saying.

thanks so much for the advice, we'll definitely look into things over at that hospital.
