emergency situation here!!
does anyone actually know how to skip massive chunks of time—like, I'm talking 45 minutes at once—in Gom without having to spam the arrow keys just to get the subtitles to catch up?

dammit, I’ve got this movie split into two separate files, but the subtitle file is just one long continuous thing...

VLC Media Player won't even recognize it, and PotPlayer is being a total pain in the ass... plus, I have no clue if you can even sync stuff like this in PotPlayer to begin with...

anybody please help me out

Man, I've got this movie split into two parts, but the subtitles are just one single file.
Classic player won't even read them, and BS Player is being a total pain... plus, does BS Player even let you do this kind of thing?

you could always grab a subtitle file that's already formatted for a 2-disc set (split into two pieces). or you could just merge those video files into one long movie using some video joining software.
but honestly, the easiest way is probably just splitting that subtitle file into two separate parts yourself. here's a link: http://www.tucows.com/preview/226547

Thanks... though I ended up just downloading a new version of BS Player at the end of the day anyway, which actually lets me manually adjust the delay to whatever I want... honestly, it’s a lifesaver because I have way too many crappy subtitles in my collection

If you're looking at newer movies, finding a decent, pinpoint translation is a breeze. It’s basically a layup.
Man, you’ve got like a million different sites out there just for grabbing subtitles. It's endless.

If they’re older models, yeah, most of them usually have issues... but honestly, it's a bit easier to deal with when you're looking at the newer stuff. 👍

Ugh, I couldn't find any subtitles for part two of this movie anywhere... and honestly, most of those other flicks with totally trashed subtitles are just low-budget Bollywood stuff anyway, so I guess I should be grateful there's at least some English subs available, even if they're buggy and require me to mess around with the settings just to make them readable, damn it...

If you use that SubRip program from the link in my post, it actually gives you extra tools for editing—stuff like merging files, splitting them up, fixing the timing, all that jazz.

Just mess around with it a bit, try to build something yourself. 👍
I haven't really sat down to use it much myself, so I can't give you the deep dive, but I know it’s got some pretty decent options if you need to tweak subtitles.

Does anyone happen to know which key triggers a video replay? I'm looking for the repeat function in Gom.

I can't remember if there's a specific shortcut or whatever, but if you dig through the settings, you can just toggle the option to have it loop automatically.😉

Hey, I figured I’d just post this here instead of starting a whole new thread.
So, I'm having this weird issue where Gom isn't showing any subtitles. Everything was working perfectly fine while I was watching my series—subtitles were popping up without a hitch—but then, as soon as I tried to switch over to the next episode, they just vanished.
I've already double-checked everything, and I made sure the video file name and the subtitle file name match up exactly.

The funny thing is, Gom actually says the subtitles are there, but for some reason, they just aren't appearing on the screen. It's so frustrating!
If anyone knows what might be going on, I'd really appreciate the help. 🙂

Are you absolutely certain the movie title and the subtitle file match up perfectly? There might be some tiny discrepancy—a stray period, a comma, an extra space, or something else subtle that isn't immediately obvious. 🙄

Maybe try using SubRip. Once you've got the movie running in Gom, just hit ALT+E on your keyboard to bring up SubRip. You can click the folder icon to find the subtitle file sitting right there in the same directory as the movie, then just select it and it should play along with the film. 🙂

Yeah, the titles are identical, but I tried that trick you mentioned and it actually worked! The subtitles are showing up now. Thanks so much. 🙂
But here's the thing—as soon as I close the video and try to restart it, the subtitles disappear again. Does this mean I'm going to have to use that SubRip workaround every single time? 😁

But the second I close the video and try to reopen it, the subtitles are gone again. So, what, am I stuck having to run this whole SubRip workaround every single time I want to watch something? 😁

Maybe just try renaming both the movie and the subtitle file to something super short, like XxXxX.avi and XxXxX.srt. Give that a shot.

Just reinstall Gom. Then the subtitles should load automatically, assuming the movie file and the subtitle file have the exact same name. 🙂

I’ve got a massive headache here! Every movie I try to watch just freezes after the first 4 seconds, and then this stupid error pops up: 'trying to play a HD file, aborting redirecting to the site.'
Is this some kind of missing codec issue or what? It’s been happening with pretty much every single movie for a few days now. Help me out, guys.

Try dragging that file, or any other video you have, into VLC Media Player. If it won't play there either, then honestly, just let it go. Delete the useless file; it's either corrupted or some kind of scam, so stop downloading stuff from sketchy, unverified sites.😁😉
