So, like the title says, I'm hunting for some FREE software that can actually handle fixing Bad Sectors... I've got this 500GB Seagate drive that's driving me absolutely insane right now. I'm planning on replacing it soon, but for now, it’s being such a pain that I can barely even get to my files. If I can't move everything over because of this mess, I'd really love to find a tool that works... if anyone knows of anything or could shoot me a link or a file via PM, I'd be super grateful 🙏 ... cheers 👍

I tried using Microsoft back in the day, but it wasn't free.
http://www.ptdd.com/ I suppose the Seagate manufacturer should probably have their own software for these kinds of issues.

http://www.ptdd.com/ I mean, shouldn't the actual drive manufacturer have their own software to handle this kind of stuff?!!

Well, WD just gives you some basic diagnostic tool -.-. Plus, I picked this thing up in Germany like two and a half years ago, so I really don't feel like shipping it all the way back there just for this. It's probably reached its expiration date anyway, I guess.

Give me a break; if you think their utility can actually fix Bad Sectors, you’ve been listening to some total nonsense.😁 Just download their utility in ISO format and use ImgBurn to put it on a CD-R. Once you boot from that disc, run a Stress Test and make sure you check the box to automatically repair any Bad Sectors it encounters, and that should do the trick.🍿🙂

uhh.... alright then 🤷 🤣 .... haha thanks man, I'm kind of a 🙄
but yeah, this whole thing seems cool. So, I grabbed the ISO, used Nero to burn it onto a CD, and tried to boot from it. It starts up, looks like it's loading some DLGIAG thing, then just sits on a black screen for maybe 30 seconds before throwing this error at me: "Unable to locate the License Agreement file, DGLICE.TXT!!!

Please make sure that the EULA is located in the same path as DLGIAG.EXE...
"
So, I just boot into Windows instead, pop the disc open, and the file is right there 😕
😕 any chance you can help me out, Andrew Miller102? 👍

no, seriously, everything seems fine on paper, so I grabbed the ISO image, used Nero to burn it onto a CD, and tried to boot from it, but then it starts loading some DLS DIG thing, hangs on a black screen for about thirty seconds, and finally spits out: "Unable to locate the License Agreement file, DGLICE.TXT!!!

Please make sure that the EULA file is located in the same path as installer.
"
So I boot into macOS instead, open up the CD, and the file is right there. 😕

I really don't have much to offer you there, so just download that ISO again, or maybe grab the ZIP file containing the ISO, unpack it, and try burning it one more time; the ISO should work perfectly.☕😉
