Monsters Inc. 2 (2012)

image

So, after everyone on the internet has been losing their minds speculating about it, they finally dropped the news! A sequel is officially in the works, currently going by the working title Monsters Inc. 2, and we're looking at a release date around November 16, 2012.

Monsters Inc. 2 (2012)

The Monsters are coming back! Can you believe it? That massive animated hit from back in 2000 is actually getting a follow-up twelve years later, which means Monsters Inc. 2 should be ready for us to catch in theaters in 2012. Disney, who handles the distribution for this Pixar masterpiece, has finally made it official.

Now, Disney and Pixar are being pretty tight-lipped about who’s actually sitting in the director's chair—like, will Pete Docter be back at the helm after his recent huge success with Heaven? We just don't know yet!

In the meantime, we've got Toy Story 3 hitting the big screen, and Pixar is already cooking up another massive project called Brave, which tells the story of a Scottish princess voiced by Reese Witherspoon, slated for a summer 2012 release too.

I'm stoked for this, but you gotta wonder. What's gotten into Pixar lately with all these sequels, Toy Story and everything? They never really struggled to come up with something fresh before. 🤷

Man, this is such awesome news! Honestly, I’m counting down the days for this one just as much as I am for Toy Story 3 and Up 4!

It feels like a total dream come true because if you look back a few months ago—way before anyone even knew anything was happening—I was actually posting all about how much I wanted M2 on that "What movie do you want to see made?" thread.

Matthew Anderson4 said:I am seriously stoked for this, but you really have to wonder, right? What is Pixar thinking, jumping into all these sequels, Toy Story this, and now this? I mean, it never felt like they had any trouble coming up with something totally fresh and original before.🤷

But hey, I actually think it's great; I’ve always been a huge fan of seeing well-made animated films get a follow-up.
Monsters, Inc. is easily one of the best animated movies out there, so I am beyond pumped for the second installment.

Oh, man, hell yeah!!! The first one is hands down one of my absolute favorite animated movies of all time. Just an incredible, heartfelt story packed with tons of action and laughs... I honestly have zero doubt that the Pixar crew is going to knock it out of the park and deliver another masterpiece.

If you ask me, Monsters, Inc. is easily one of the top 15 animated movies ever made.🙏

I mean, seriously, I am absolutely losing my mind right now! 😠

They even went ahead and changed the title too, and now it's officially being called Monsters University (2013)

If I’m remembering right, the movie hit streaming yesterday!

It’s decent. Has some brilliant beats, though a few parts didn't quite land for me—for instance, I actually loved how they flipped that classic cartoon cliché about "believing in yourself to become anything." On the flip side, the structure felt a little wonky, almost like three different movies mashed together :/ It’s definitely not peak Disney, but it should hold the attention of both kids and adults since there are plenty of genuinely funny moments.

7/10

This is actually one of the better short films I've seen—and honestly, I’m not much of a fan of the genre; very few of them ever truly impress me.

Caught this one the other day and honestly? I was blown away. It’s easily one of the best movies of the year (if you can even call them all movies at this point). Disney keeps killing it with these animations—definitely worth your time. Not sure if there's an American dubbed version out yet, but the English audio is top-tier. This sequel actually makes sense and clears up a ton of stuff from the first movie. Most of those wannabe Hollywood blockbusters could really learn a thing or two from this on how to actually do a sequel right.

Honestly, I expected it to be good, but man, it actually holds its own against the original! I was fully prepared for it to be a bit of a letdown, but it’s just as solid as the first one.

The whole concept is so cool since they made this prequel to show us what Vozovski and Sali were like back in their younger days.

That scene where they have to get back to their own world by pulling some crazy stunt to freak out the cops? Seriously, that might be one of the best scenes in the whole movie, if not *the* best.

Anthony Perez93 said:It’s definitely one of the better movies this year—and I mean movies in general! Disney keeps killing it with these animations, and they are totally worth the watch.

Here's my take on that:

1. It’s totally unrealistic because you're comparing apples to oranges.
2. It's preteran.

Look, a live-action flick is one thing, but an animated movie is a completely different beast altogether. In animation, they can just draw those wild facial expressions and massive emotions whenever they want, whereas in a live-action movie, the actor actually has to pull it off physically. Like, in animation, you can just draw a massive explosion, but in live-action, you actually have to blow stuff up on set... so really, you can't—and you shouldn't—even try to compare animation to live-action movies.

The first one was miles ahead

This one has its moments, but honestly, it could've been way better
