Medical Pedicures

I couldn't quite track down a specific thread for this, so I'm starting one regarding medical pedicures—not just your standard salon service, but the actual clinical kind. 🤷
Basically, I’ve got ingrown nails on both of my big toes... honestly, I have no idea how it even happened, but it’s reached that point where I need to find a specialist immediately to get them dealt with—whether that means removal or whatever the actual procedure entails when things get this bad. Does anyone have any recommendations? And please, tell me... does it hurt? Also, what's the aesthetic aftercare like—will my nails look okay once everything is sorted out? 😁

I did spot a specialized clinic over in Brooklyn—it's pretty close to where I am near Poljanica—that focuses exclusively on medical pedicures, so I'm thinking of dropping in there sometime this week since I'm a bit lost on where else to turn... 🤷

I actually went there recently for a quick procedure, and even though I had to shell out $60, it was worth every single penny... at least for now! 😁
The women working there are incredibly professional and just so sweet, plus everything is spotless and totally sterile. The whole vibe of the place is just great too 👍
You get seen right away, and they give you a little chart just like you’d get at a doctor's office—I think within those $60 you also get a follow-up check, but I can't say for sure 🤔
Anyway, if you happen to be closer to Brooklyn, they have a salon location over there too. I visited that one and honestly, I was so happy with it: kucatriputudrvodasemalibolnigadnevrati: 😬

Ugh, that sounds absolutely brutal. My brother went through the exact same thing, so I’d highly recommend checking out Goga's salon over in Silet. Just a heads-up: she doesn't just rip the nail out; she actually treats the issue. My brother tried all sorts of different places where they just told him the nail had to be surgically removed, until we stumbled upon Goga's place in the news—they focus on healing the nail itself. Mrs. Gordana, who owns the place, does everything so carefully and is genuinely such a sweetheart. If you want, I can PM you the address.

I’ve been dealing with this annoying issue on my heel lately... My primary care doctor mentioned it looks a lot like a plantar wart, so she gave me a referral to see a dermatologist—but I haven't actually made it to an appointment yet. To be honest, I'm a little nervous about it, and the specialist she recommended is all the way over in Brooklyn, which is quite a trek for me...
Has anyone else dealt with something similar? 😢 It really hurts whenever I put weight on that specific spot on my heel, and it’s honestly starting to get on my nerves...

I honestly think you should go see a dermatologist right away because you really shouldn't mess around when it comes to a skin lesion like that. The longer you wait, the longer it’s going to take to clear up... I mean, I dealt with my own issue for five whole months! I was heading into the clinic every single week to have the dermatologist cauterize it, so seriously, just get to a doctor ASAP😉
And make sure it's a specialist, okay? Please don't let a podiatrist try to dig at it🙂

If there's a community health center closer to you, maybe check out the one in Silet—that's where I used to go🙂, though actually, most major medical centers have a dermatologist on staff... good luck, you've got this!😉

In San Francisco, they handle these kinds of issues through Medicare. You just go see a surgeon, they apply some local anesthetic, and just like that, the problem is solved in minutes.

And I really can't stand those salons where pedicurists try to perform medical procedures. Between the risk of infections and everything else... forget about being polite. Being polite isn't going to cure anyone...

Does Medtronic deal with pressure points on the feet, specifically around the heels? You know, those really painful ones😢 Does anyone have a specific recommendation in the Ogrizovic area? I’m looking for someone who is actually gentle and patient. 😁

You're better off asking in the diabetes thread. People living with diabetes practically have to be experts in foot care just to stay out of trouble, so they'll likely know exactly who the pros are and can point you toward someone reliable.👍

I’ve been trying to get an order in through Medtronic for two whole months now and I still can't get anyone to actually process it. It's ridiculous. I've got this thickened skin on my thumbs and a bit on my heels that needs dealing with, but I honestly have to practically force myself to call them just to see if they aren't out on vacation or something. Seriously, how do these clinics even function? Are they just closing up shop whenever they feel like it, or is someone actually working there? 😕

I’ve been dealing with ingrown nails and some pretty brutal calluses on my heels and all over my feet, and honestly, the pain whenever I walk has become just unbearable. I think I’ve finally hit my limit, so I'm going to have to find a professional shop to go to. If you guys have any advice or experiences you could share, I’d really appreciate it. I personally know of a medical pedicure salon located in an office building in Arlington, right near the entrance to the neighborhood. A friend of mine actually drove her grandmother all the way from Brooklyn just to go there. They seem top-notch; the lady they treated had actually lost several toes before, so you'd need a truly elite technician to handle a patient in that condition safely.
Maybe try Googling it; I'm not sure of the exact name of the shop.

I’ve been putting this off because it’s nothing majorly painful, but I’m honestly pretty skeptical when it comes to hygiene. It is absolutely critical to me that everything is sterile, spotless, and that the technician actually knows what they’re doing.

The most common suggestion I see is Medtronic, but those reviews are years old. From what I’ve gathered lately, they’ve been moving locations constantly, losing their best staff, and I’ve even stumbled upon some negative feedback. Plus, they don't even have a website.

To be honest, I don't care about the neighborhood or how friendly the staff is, and price isn't my main concern either. My priority is expertise and sterilization. So, if anyone can recommend a legitimate salon—and please, no mobile technicians who come to your house—I’d really appreciate it. Let me know which specific technician to ask for. Feel free to DM me. If I may just interject, I recently visited the salon on Tim Preradovic Street for a pedicure and manicure, and to put it bluntly, it was quite disappointing... I had specifically booked a medical-grade pedicure and manicure, but the staff seemed entirely disinterested in providing any actual specialized care. There was absolutely nothing "medical" about the service; in fact, I found myself having to point out every single flaw myself, only to be told that there wasn't anything they could do about it. They simply buffed my heels slightly and tidied up my nails, which honestly, I could have done better myself at home. My feet aren't particularly problematic, but I really wanted them to look perfect for a wedding. All in all, for $160, it was a very poor experience

I think I'll back this up. There was absolutely nothing medical about that pedicure, either. To make matters worse, after the polish was applied, I spent about 20 minutes waiting in the hallway for it to dry, so when I finally put my socks on later at home, the polish was completely ruined.
Overall, it was a bad experience.

So, I hit up that spot on Preradovic for a mani-pedi and gel polish right before a wedding. Honestly, the whole thing was a disaster, especially for what they charge. My nails didn't look rounded at all—they looked like two little olives. The cuticles were a mess right away, too. Then, the gel started chipping after one shower, and ten days later? Practically gone from every single nail. The girl working on me seemed totally checked out. I asked for a bright color, and she just grabbed the first bottle she saw until I practically forced her to show me the actual options. Just really disappointed. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I don't get why everyone's hating on Tim... I went in for my first pedicure and gel polish about a month ago, and honestly, it was great. The salon looks amazing, the staff is super friendly—they even brought me coffee and water, and the music was actually decent too... The young girl doing my pedicure walked me through everything she was doing and even gave me some tips on how to handle my nails when I'm trimming them myself at home..

To top it off, they gave me some free promotional foot creams, so I ended up booking a full mani-gel combo. The other girl who did my manicure was just as awesome! I'd tell anyone to check them out, you won't regret it 🎉
