I've got an HP 1050 printer, and whenever I try to print text, every other line gets sliced right in half. The folks at Best Buy told me there should be an "align" and "dealign" option in the installation settings, so they suggested I run an alignment. I opened the printer software icon on my desktop, but the only thing I see in the settings is the "align" option. After I select it, it just prints a test page that has the exact same issue as everything else. Does anyone know what's going wrong here?

Hang in there,

Don't let them kick you out of the store while you're still sane.

Alignment isn't your issue.

The real problem is that those cartridges have such tiny amounts of ink that you basically have to buy a new one after just a few prints. It's how they design them—they put two different types of ink in there. One goes on the paper, and the other is meant to clog up the print head so you can't even try to refill it.

I appreciate the effort... and look, I know how shady some retailers can be, but this time it really was just a matter of pressing one button—well, maybe not quite that simple, but still... thanks anyway.
