And man, being a mod meant fighting an uphill battle with the administration from day one. When I first joined, I was all about making changes and pitching ideas, but the higher-ups kept brushing me off, saying I lacked experience. It was the same old story every single time! Then, out of nowhere, someone else suggests the exact same stuff I’d been yelling about for months, and suddenly it’s a great idea? I just pointed out that maybe the administration would finally see sense and let us actually *do* our jobs properly on this site. But the bottom line is, I was the one out there fighting the good fight, while everyone else just sat back and waited to see what the admins would decide. Seriously though, if the management at a place like Reddit actually knew how to run things, they’d listen to the people actually doing the work! Instead, I just got told, "There goes Johnny again, always rushing ahead." 🤦 So you think I should still want to moderate...? Yeah, thanks, but no thanks. After a pretty heated showdown with the old admin team, I stepped down and went back to being just another user.

some people will give you a pat on the back behind closed doors, just so they don't lose their status
but what status? You're all volunteers
honestly, they'd be better off volunteering at a local soup kitchen or a nursing home than here on this forum
nothing is uglier than someone craving glory; some people would kill for a tiny bit of power or authority
they aren't kidding when they say "give a man power and you'll see his true colors"
it was definitely for the best that you quit the mod gig, but hey, you can still level up the quality of this place just by posting better content as a regular user
if I were you, I wouldn't have left entirely
maybe just take a little breather, but don't walk away
just think about it
