Hey everyone, I’m 25. About six months ago, I dealt with chickenpox, and between that and some intense stress, my immune system took a massive hit—I even ended up with gastritis (my stomach is fine now). Then I had surgery nine months ago, and just recently had to get an inflamed tooth pulled...

I know your immunity stays low for a while after chickenpox, but since it’s been six months, is it possible I'm still feeling this weak because of it?
It feels like I'm getting sick every single month. A few days ago, I hit a 102 fever, developed mouth sores, and even some oral thrush... My gums are so swollen right now that eating is a nightmare, so I've been using Orajel and Nystatin.

I’ve been taking multivitamins and recently started Omega-3s on my doctor's recommendation, but clearly, I'm getting sick again... I think I've lost about 18 pounds in the last six months, mostly due to all these diets...

My blood work comes back perfect, everything looks fine, yet it's just constant flu, viruses, and colds, plus this gum issue...
Is it actually possible for such a long period of weakened immunity to stem from those chickenpox, or does anyone have an idea what else could be causing this?

Thanks so much and Happy Holidays to you all! 🙂

I seem to get sick every single month. A few days ago, I hit a 102 fever, ended up with canker sores, and some oral thrush on my tongue... now my gums are so inflamed I can barely eat, so I'm using Orajel and Nystatin.

It looks like you've just been hit by one thing after another. First the chickenpox, and then it seems that infected tooth you eventually had surgery for really did its damage too.
Just keep taking your Omega-3. You might want to try some immune support drops and some organic propolis (www.naturemade.com) and make sure you're eating well!

Look, regarding that whole immunity thing, I’d honestly suggest leaning more into natural stuff rather than relying on those various pills from all those big pharmaceutical companies. Just stick to freshly squeezed orange juice—hand-pressed, obviously—and maybe toss in a lemon if you can handle it. Throw some garlic, bacon, and definitely some propolis into the mix... there are plenty of little remedies out there if you know where to look.

I’d also tell you to go get an allergy test done. It doesn’t really matter if you just had one recently; I actually ended up doing it twice within ten days myself. The first time came back perfect, like I wasn't allergic to anything, but the second time? Suddenly it flagged a whole bunch of things...

I would also recommend getting an allergy test. It doesn't matter if you just had one recently; I once had two tests within ten days. The first showed absolutely nothing, but the second flagged quite a few triggers.

It’s rare to see someone suggesting natural alternatives over tablets here. Usually, people argue that home remedies or juices aren't nearly as effective as modern medicine and those high-priced vitamins from places like CVS $100. I actually agree with you. Kudos to you!

To add to the OP's point... you simply need to eat enough. Make sure you're having three meals a day. Don't skip them. Plus, following what Anthony Wilson4 suggested, try making a tea from red onion. Just slice up some unpeeled onions—ideally organic ones, since many winter varieties are treated with chemical sprays to prevent sprouting or something similar:
"White and red onions are excellent natural decongestants, so onion tea should help with a stuffy nose. Boil 4-5 large onions in 2 liters of water with 3/4 cup of honey. Let it simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Take it as often as needed. Drink it warm."

Do a bit more research online regarding alternative therapies, boosting immunity, and things of that nature.

Also, cut back on all added sugars; they basically poison the body in every way. Eat plenty of lemons. Try at least two a day, or drink lemon juice, as it’s a powerful antioxidant with incredible properties. Switch out caffeinated drinks for green tea. You could also incorporate a little spice—black pepper, cayenne, or even a decent shot of bourbon, though I don't know how much that suits you or if you should be consuming it at all. Use your own judgment.

Physical activity is non-negotiable; without it, none of this matters.
Spend less time sitting in front of a computer or the TV, even if it's snowing outside and the temperature hits zero.

Watch your hygiene. For your mouth, you can use something like Octenisept to rinse (my doctor recommended it when I was dealing with canker sores and gum inflammation; it’s available at pharmacies like Walgreens for about $10, no prescription needed) - LINK.

Stress is a nasty thing, and you have to manage it properly so it doesn't continue causing health issues. Try taking small steps and start with the "holy trinity"—onion (white or red), honey, and lemon. 👍

Kudos to you! Though, honestly, when it comes to that red onion tea... man, just a heads-up, there is nothing out there that tastes or smells worse than that stuff. It's brutal.
As for the sugar situation, if you’re someone who can’t live without sugar in your coffee or tea, I’d say try making the switch to brown sugar. Just cut out the white stuff entirely if you can... though, of course, if you can manage to go without any sweetener at all, even better...

I’ve come to a realization—call it my own little theory if you will. It seems everything that tastes absolutely revolting is actually good for you, while the stuff that actually tastes delicious is usually junk. 😁
Anyone else on the same page? hehe

Anyone else feel the same way?? haha

Spot on! I’d just add that anything tasting good is a one-way ticket to gaining weight. 😠

I empathize with the OP 😢 I’ve been dealing with something similar... 😬
I also tend 👍 toward all-natural remedies and herbal products—though, in my experience, they haven't provided much relief 😢

Is it possible my immune system is just compromised? I notice that whenever I’m sleep-deprived due to work, I run a mild fever almost immediately. 😢 Unfortunately, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a tall order these days—between the constant hustle, the stress, the processed food, and the unpredictable weather... 😢

It really seems like a zinc deficiency can absolutely wreck your immune system—I know from experience. Every single autumn, I used to deal with these nagging colds that would just drag on for months... but ever since I realized that my zinc levels were likely the culprit, I felt significantly better within just a few days. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that if you decide to take a zinc supplement in the morning, it’s probably a good idea to have something high in copper for dinner—maybe some peanuts or something similar—since taking too much zinc over time can actually lead to a copper deficiency in your system.

It’s not exactly rocket science to do a quick Google search...🙄
