Can someone help me make sense of this? An ultrasound report for my girlfriend shows that her appendix isn't visible on the scan. We've been stuck in this endless loop for over a year now, with surgeons and gynecologists basically playing ping-pong with her diagnosis. Meanwhile, she’s still in pain. It’s her lower right abdomen—ovary, pelvic bone, bladder area... you name it. We've run a mountain of tests, and everything comes back perfectly normal until we hit this one. Her doctor suspects chronic appendicitis, but we just can't get enough proof to finally convince them to just take it out. Anyone dealt with something similar?

If the appendix isn't filling up, there is a strong suspicion of inflammation likely caused by an obstruction—perhaps a fecalith or something else entirely... I am not sure why everyone is making such a fuss when dealing with a young patient where non-invasive or semi-invasive methods simply aren't yielding a clear diagnosis of the pathology. They should just explore the abdomen and get to work...
