Man, forget about calling him a guy, we're talking about pure female endurance here
once she locks in, there is absolutely no letting go

I'm not entirely sure of the exact reason, but I guess the race setup just works out better for the numbers. Both men and women run 10 hurdles, but the distance between them is different—about 9.1m for men and 8.3m for women. I suppose it might be because the average male runner has a longer stride.

She’s already a junior European champion, and honestly, she always seems to step up when the stakes are highest at the European and World Championships.

We might actually be looking at another world-class superstar here. Let's just pray she doesn't suffer the same heartbreaking fate as Ivana Brkljacic, who was once considered our brightest rising star.

Wait, what happened with Ivana Brkljacic?? Why isn't she at the World Championships?

Daniel Booth37 said:I can't quite put my finger on why, but this race setup seems tailor-made for hitting fast times. Both men and women face 10 hurdles, but the spacing between them differs—9.1m versus 8.3m. My guess? It’s just to account for the longer stride length of the average male sprinter.

The 110m for men has been the gold standard—roughly 120 yards—ever since the discipline was first cooked up in England, whereas women have dealt with all sorts of weird combinations of distances and hurdle counts. Eventually, 80m with 8 hurdles became the norm, and then 100m solidified as the standard once it was officially embraced as an Olympic event—maybe at Tokyo or Mexico City, I can't recall exactly... though those 80m hurdles were lower than what we see in the 100m today. Back then, there wasn't one single governing body for everyone; women had their own federation, so things were a bit of a mess until the standards were finally synchronized.

And what on earth was that absolute disaster during the 1500m last night? I can't stand those races where they just jog around aimlessly for most of it and then try to sprint the final 300m. 🤮

Since we're on the subject of groin injuries: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtSPisNYmhs
we really need to see a new Jackson emerge in this discipline... otherwise, the whole sport might just fade away...

Edward Evans68 said:..well, she looks like a guy, and honestly, she runs like one too. She just absolutely crushed the competition. 😁

But look—back in October last year at the 6th junior Commonwealth Games, she clocks a 2:04, which was her personal best—about a second slower than this other South African girl, Juanee Cilliers, who’s actually their first junior (and she's a full year younger than Caster). If you drop 10 seconds in just 10 months... something stinks. I mean, if we were talking long-distance stuff, shaving off 10 seconds isn't a big deal, but for this? It feels like a bit much.

She does have that 400m sprinter build, though—reminded me of how different Bekele's physique is compared to all those other scrawny types running the 10,000m.

Maybe it's some kind of genetic anomaly, but we're still waiting on the results from the gender testing conducted by World Athletics.

we seriously need a new Jackson to show up in this event... otherwise, the whole thing is just a lost cause.

The men's high jump has been stuck in a rut for years now—honestly, it’s probably the one discipline I find completely unwatchable.

True, she’s built more like a 400m runner. Reminded me of how Haile Gebrselassie looks compared to the typical scrawny guys running the 10,000m.

Maybe there's some genetic condition involved, but the results from the gender test conducted by World Athletics haven't been released yet.

Her puberty just hit a bit later, nothing more.

Phiwe Mlangeni-Tsholetsane would not confirm or deny that Semenya was having such a test.

“We entered Caster as a woman and we want to keep it that way,” 🤣 Mlangeni-Tsholetsane said. “Our conscience is clear in terms of Caster. We have no reservations at all about that.”

Semenya’s father, Jacob Semenya, pleaded: “I wish they would leave my daughter alone.”

“She is my little girl. I raised her and I have never doubted her gender. She is a woman and I can repeat that a million times,” Semenya told The Sowetan newspaper.

Semenya’s paternal grandmother, Maputhi Sekgala, also spoke in defense of Semenya.

“The controversy doesn’t bother me that much because I know she’s a woman— I raised her myself,” Sekgala told The New York Times, another American newspaper.

“What can I do when they call her a man, when she’s really not a man? It is God who made her look that way,” Sekgala said.

It’s tough for her. Nature just played a bit of a trick on the girl. She finally finds something she's great at, and then they accuse her of being a man.🤷

Honestly, if I were in her shoes dealing with that test, I’d probably just lose my mind and tell them all where to shove it.

I’m just not following here—I mean, you look at guys like Robles, Xiang, Oliver, and Trammell over the last couple of years... and they're all athletes who have never even touched a sub-12.95 in their lives...☕

And regarding this South African man/woman 😁, I honestly don't get what the actual criteria are for deciding if an athlete is categorized as male or female...
Like, what happens if someone was raised as a girl since they were a kid, but then based on certain biological markers—say, hormone levels or chromosomes—they actually turn out to be a guy?

I was thinking about that whole situation again today... It’s one of those things that stays with you, isn't it? You look back at how everything unfolded and realize how much weight certain moments actually carried. I don't mean to dwell on it, really, but there's a certain stillness in reflecting on it all... sometimes it feels like we only see the surface of what truly happened. kaže:
I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around this... I mean, look at the roster we've seen over the last couple of years—you've got Robles, Xiang, Oliver, and Trammell... and honestly, every single one of them has career bests that sit north of 12.95... It just doesn't quite add up to me...☕

I’m not trying to argue with anyone there, I just really feel like Jackson was the last true ambassador for this discipline, right alongside Allen Johnson. That’s just my take on it. Xiang definitely had the raw potential, but he felt more like one of those heavily manufactured projects you saw around the Athens 2004 era, and then he just couldn't stay healthy because of all those injuries...

Thanks for the info! 👍

Does anyone happen to know what time the men's 200m final starts tonight? I missed the 100m, so I definitely can't miss this one...

It's at 8:35 PM. Usain Bolt is going to cruise through this, though I doubt he'll break 19.30.
