Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong sub, but I’ve been dealing with some bleeding every time I go to the bathroom for about a week now. Sometimes it's heavy enough that the toilet paper is covered, other times it's just a few spots. But honestly, the actual movement is so painful I can't even put it into words—it feels more like an intense burning sensation than anything else. What the hell could this be? Thanks in advance.

It’s probably gonna be hemorrhoids. Just take a quick look at the other thread about them to see how bad things can actually get.

I don’t want to start a whole new thread for this, but I need a quick reality check: Is it actually possible that my morning bathroom trip looked all reddish because I absolutely demolished half a watermelon last night? I mean, I sat there around 10 PM and just went to town on it—half a melon, gone. This morning, everything was pretty soft, like you could clearly see bits of undigested food, and specifically what looked like chunks of watermelon... but since the whole thing was looking kind of red, well, let's just say I'm spiraling a little bit here.
So, I’ve been dealing with this weird situation lately where my bathroom trips look less like a normal digestive process and more like a literal crime scene of undigested food scraps—it’s like my body is just passing stuff through without even trying to process it. Honestly, it’s pretty gross to think about, but I’m trying to wrap my head around why this is happening. What actually causes stool to look like you just swallowed a whole salad and skipped the digestion part entirely?

Sandra Baker35 said:I don't want to clutter up the board with another thread, but I have a question for anyone who might know. Is there any chance my stool being reddish this morning was just because of the watermelon I polished off last night? I ended up eating about half of a massive watermelon all by myself around 10 PM. When I went this morning, things were pretty soft—almost like you could see bits of undigested food in there—and I could definitely spot what looked like fragments of watermelon. But given that the color was red... well, let's just say I'm feeling a bit uneasy about it.
I've been noticing something lately that’s frankly a bit unsettling. My stools have started looking like they contain actual, recognizable bits of food—it’s as if nothing is actually being digested properly. It looks completely unprocessed. Does anyone here know what might be causing this kind of malabsorption or undigested matter in the stool?

Sure, stool color can shift depending on what you’ve been eating lately. As for the specific components? That really comes down to the type of food you're consuming and just how fast your digestive system processes everything. It's all about transit time.

Lately, my stools have seemed like they contain undigested food particles too. What could be causing that?

Funny enough, I was just reading some advice on a forum today from someone helping people with digestion issues. They were saying watermelon is actually the best thing for it and you should keep eating it until things start coming out red.

stormyheron4 said:So, I’m scrolling through some health forum today—you know how those places are—and I stumble upon this "expert" giving advice to people struggling with regular bathroom trips. This genius actually suggests that watermelon is the ultimate cure, telling everyone they should just keep snacking on it until things start looking red on the way out.

Oh man... thanks for the heads-up! I am definitely going to go pig out on some watermelon now!🙂

A healthy stool should be firm and shaped—think "sausage" style—and brown (not black or yellow!). You shouldn't see any blood, and frequency can range anywhere from a few times a day to a couple of times a week. Most importantly, it shouldn't hurt.

Lately, my movements seem to contain actual bits of undigested food, like things aren't being fully processed.

Try bumping up your fiber intake with whole foods—things like whole grains, oats, muesli, and plenty of veggies (raw is best), especially apples. A good probiotic could help too; you can pick something up at a CVS or just stick to regular yogurt or kefir. Also, if you can manage to dial back the stress levels through some kind of relaxation technique, that might help.
If you don't see an improvement within a week of doing this, go see a doctor for some tests. This is especially important if things stay red, get redder, or turn pitch black like tar.

Ugh... I gotta be honest, my stress levels have been absolutely through the roof lately... actually, scratch that, they’ve always been through the roof because I’m a total panic attack magnet and deal with some seriously intense anxiety. On top of all that, I’m a massive hypochondriac—and not the fun kind, but the worst kind where I’m convinced I’ve got some horrific, terminal illness, yet I’m too terrified to actually step foot in a doctor's office. Right now, I’m wrestling with these constant stomach pains and digestive issues that have been hanging over my head for like twenty years... you know, with those ups and downs where some days are fine and others are just straight-up misery. If I get even slightly worked up, I’m sprinting to the bathroom immediately... and don't even get me started on coffee, because that sends me running too. But here’s the thing that’s really eating at me: most of the time everything seems totally fine and regular, but then there are these stretches of a few days where things get soft and I start seeing bits of undigested food... ugh, gross. I know I'm acting crazy because I spend every single day obsessively checking my stool and spiraling into these dark, terrifying thoughts, but I am genuinely petrified of seeing a specialist... I feel like I might actually drop dead if I had to go through a colonoscopy or any of those invasive procedures. And look, I already know most "normal people" are gonna tell me I'm just being dramatic, but unfortunately, I can't help it, it's just how I'm wired 🤷

It could be psychological, which might point toward something like irritable bowel syndrome. But you really need to rule out any physical underlying issues first.
Hyper-focusing on physical symptoms—and psychosomatic issues in general—is pretty typical for people who struggle to put their emotions into words or just tend to resist facing how they actually feel. You might find it helpful to start keeping a journal to track your emotions, specifically those triggered by stressful situations. If you start documenting things, you might begin to spot patterns in how you react. Once those patterns are visible, you can gradually work on questioning them and swapping them out for more constructive responses.

Thanks for the input. Honestly, I’ve been hitting up therapy sessions for two years straight now, and while I’m not exactly seeing some massive breakthrough, I’m kind of at a loss—like, what else am I supposed to do? For years, it’s just been this relentless cycle of brutal panic attacks, crushing anxiety, and these deep-seated phobias... plus the hypochondria is real. As soon as I feel even a tiny twitch or a weird sensation, I’m already spiraling down an internet rabbit hole, just waiting for the worst-case scenario to hit.
Right now, my gut issues are absolutely wrecking me... and lately, it's my eyes too. I've started seeing these little black floaters drifting right in front of my vision... and then I find out my friend and my mom are seeing them too... which, of course, makes me think it might be some serious eye disease.
It’s just constant fear, fear, and running away... probably. I just don't know how to stop retreating and actually face whatever it is that's constantly breathing down my neck... it’s never that simple. 🤷

Are you seeing this in your eyes, or just in your field of vision?
