Anex A vs. Anex B

So, what's the deal here? I just picked up an Anex B router, but I was already running on a wired ADSL setup using an Anex A model. My whole plan was to finally ditch the wires and get some decent wireless internet going, but now I'm hitting a wall. I ran into some major headaches trying to plug the DSL cable in—the old Anex A had four wires, but this new Anex B is asking for eight. What am I supposed to do about this?

Honestly, your best bet might be heading back to the store where you bought the hardware and seeing if you can swap it out for an Anex A model instead. If you're using something like a Siemens SX768, I believe those units are flexible enough to handle both types without much fuss.

It all comes down to the standard. Usually, you can just flash the router's firmware with a different Annex version. Or, if you listen to what ghost says, see if you can swap it at the store for the same model but with a higher Annex. Honestly, next time, just check which Annex your ISP uses before you go out buying a modem or router.
