Can't update my email address

So, I’ve been trying to update my email address for a while now, but I keep hitting a wall.
I go through the motions—inputting my current password and the new email address—but whenever I try to save the changes, I just get this error message:
The email address you entered is already in use. If you have forgotten your password, please click here.(which includes a link to the Forgot password link)

Don't tell me you're already using that email address for some burner account or clone...

Well, what can you do. I couldn't change my handle, so I just made a second account... then later I felt bad about walking away from those 2k posts I had on the old one, so I just kept writing here instead. Honestly, I kind of forgot all about that other profile 😕

Honestly, the exact same thing happened to me, and I didn't even have a backup account to use! 🤷
Then my whole system just froze up on me, so I was totally locked out and couldn't post for a couple of days. 🙂

It probably happened to you because you never actually got that registration activation email. Even a few people reached out to me complaining about the exact same thing, but honestly, it’s clearly just some software bug. If that's the case, you really just need to message the admins.

I mean, you could always just go back and dig through the top-rated threads here if all else fails, I guess.
