Well, you might as well just come out and say it, goodness gracious! 😬

In my humble opinion, here is how I would look at it—

GIGABYTE GA-EP43-DS3 - $178
Pentium E5300 Pentium - $162
Corsair CX400W - $117
2x1 GB PC6400 Kingmax - $56
Gigabyte Radeon HD 4670 512MB DDR3 - $156
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12, ST3500418AS 500GB - $120
Any DVD RW SATA drive you fancy - $50

Thanks for getting back to me. If it isn't too much trouble to ask, do you happen to know a local computer shop that carries all these components so I can go in and show them exactly what I'm looking for? 😁

EDIT

I actually found everything at Micro Center except for the Corsair CX400W.

EDIT 2

My apologies, and thank you—it turns out I was able to find everything I need at Micro Center after all. Thanks again, truly! <3

I could really use some advice here... I'm currently putting together a new PC build and I find myself stuck choosing between two different graphics cards.

- Gigabyte Radeon HD 4850 - $469
or
- Zotac GF 9800GT - $313

Since their performance levels seem to be pretty much in the same ballpark, I'm curious about why there's such a massive price gap between them. In your opinion, does it actually make sense to go with the Zotac, or should I look elsewhere?

I honestly can't tell if some people are just being thick-headed, totally out of touch, or maybe just plain lazy, but when someone actually goes through the trouble of typing out >>>>>READ THE FIRST POST!<<<<< — then you really ought to take the hint, go back, read that initial post properly, and actually answer the questions asked!

I honestly can't figure out where this post ended up... but anyway, please, which one of these is actually better?

Gigabyte Radeon HD 4650, 1GB DDR2, VGA, DVI, HDMI

or

Gigabyte Radeon HD 4670, 512MB DDR3, VGA, DVI, HDMI

HD 4670. If the instructions say you need to read the very first post, then please, for goodness' sake, actually do it and write exactly what's required... This is my first and last warning.

I read through the first post, but honestly, I was just looking for a direct comparison between those two cards. Which one actually performs better? And maybe—just maybe—if there’s something out there at a similar price point that beats both of them, I'd like to know. I didn't bother listing the rest of my specs because, frankly, I don't think they matter here... Thanks for getting back to me. I was leaning toward the HD 4670 myself, I just wanted to double-check.

Configuration matters quite a bit... unless we're just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Well, sure, it matters... but right now? It doesn't really matter to me. I was just curious to see which one of those two was actually better.

I've got this motherboard...
gigabyte S‑series M52L‑S3P

I need a graphics card mainly for gaming rather than just multimedia stuff... so if anyone knows which one is worth picking up for the price, let me know.🤷

If you're prioritizing gaming, silence isn't such a huge deal, and neither is having a massive array of rear connectors.

I’d definitely suggest looking at the 4770—it's efficient, though performance-wise it really should be called a 4840—or maybe the 4830, but that starts from $217 onwards.

For example:

and so on.

Actually, based on your budget, the 4670 fits better. There are plenty of them out there with all sorts of different cooling setups, memory capacities, and memory types.

So, the price range goes from $150 (starting with the basic 4670 ddr3) up to $250 for the high-end versions.

Take a look and see what you pick.

--------

The 4670 is solid for gaming, provided you don't push the resolution or settings too high; it handles older titles on max settings without breaking a sweat. Power draw is low, so any decent power supply can handle it.
Drivers are fine, and there's pretty good potential for Overclocked performance...

I’ve been wondering about the same thing regarding graphics cards—specifically the price gap between here in the States and abroad.
I noticed that on sites like Newegg or Overclockers UK, cards are cheaper by up to $333, even if the specs aren't that different. I also saw some cards listed as Overclocked on HGSpot, but I can't find those anywhere else.

I was thinking about just ordering one from those sites since 1GB cards priced at $233 feel a little steep to me.

Of course, it all depends on whether it actually fits my motherboard.

🙂 Need some help

Here’s my current setup:

Intel Core i7-920 2.66 GHz 8MB Cache
Intel X58 Motherboard, Dual Triple-Channel DDR3 Memory
6GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 3 x 2048MB

Regarding graphics: which of these two should I pick? Keep in mind this machine is for work, not just gaming...

Dual 2GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 with CrossFireX
Dual 1,792 MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295

Thanks...

Hey everyone,

I’ve been tinkering away over the last few days putting together a desktop for my mom, but I’m still hunting for the right graphics card to round things out.

Here’s the deal: I need something PCI Express. Ideally a GeForce card with its own dedicated VRAM—none of that TurboCache nonsense. I want actual Scared Memory. It shouldn't require an extra power connector from the PSU; just draw everything straight from the slot. Also, it needs active cooling and decent, standard dimensions, because the case isn't exactly massive.

The machine is mostly for browsing the web, though when I come over to visit, she might play a game or two. Nothing heavy like Crysis or Hitman (or whatever those titles are called these days).

Oh, and please, let it have a reasonable price tag. I'm not looking for the absolute cheapest bottom-of-the-barrel cards you find at a flea market, but nothing crazy either.

The specs are:

Processor: AMD Athlon64 X2 6000 AM2
CPU-Cooler: Arctic Cooling Alpine 7 GT
Motherboard: ECS 8100VM-M3, AM2+, mATX
RAM: 4096MB-KIT G-Skill PC8000/1000,CL 5
Hard Drive: Samsung HD322HJ, 320GB, 16MB
DVD-RW: LG GH22NS40/NS30 bare schwarz SATA II
Case & PSU: Compucase 6C11BS schwarz 400W HEC-400TP-2WX

Thanks in advance!

I'm not even going to bother commenting on the configuration right now... it could be doing much better..

Grab an HD 4670 for the graphics card.

And you really should have posted this in

What kind of workload are we looking at here?

CAD, Photoshop, video editing...?

I'm thinking about picking up this graphics card: ATI Radeon HD4670

Here’s what my current rig looks like:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000
Motherboard: Gigabyte MP-M52L-S3
RAM: 3GB DDR2
Monitor: 19-inch (1440x900)
Current GPU: Gigabyte Radeon X1550 256MB DDR
Power Supply: 500W, hasn't given me any trouble so far

So, would this new card be enough to actually run newer titles? I'm looking at things like GTA IV or >...

An ATI Radeon HD4670 would probably cut it..

@rustyraven292/">@@rustyraven292

Personally, I'd lean toward Nvidia..
