Unfortunately, those supplies are completely gone, and word is they probably won't be getting any more restocks anytime soon.

I don't know. You called every shop in Chicago and still nothing? 😕

Unfortunately, there's no sign of it arriving anytime soon—maybe in two weeks if we're lucky, though even that’s a big if. I honestly didn't have the patience to sit around waiting, so I went ahead and picked up something else instead... though I can't say I'm particularly thrilled with the choice either.👎

You've got a week to return it and grab something else if you feel like it—assuming you kept the packaging in good shape, obviously. 🙂

PS. Have you checked out Protis? LINK They usually have everything in their catalog ready to go; you just order it and it shows up the next day.

Yeah, I’ve been looking into it. I actually spent the day calling about ten different companies just to vent, but honestly, nobody seems able to help me out here.

Hey everyone! Honestly, I used to stay super on top of GPU releases and tech news, but I’ve kind of fallen off the radar over the last couple of years. I'm looking to pick up a new graphics card with a budget of roughly $833, though I don't mind stretching it by a few hundred bucks if it makes sense. I've been browsing prices at different big-box retailers, and it's wild—I'm seeing the exact same models with price gaps of up to $167. Is there actually some hidden trick or performance difference between specific versions of the same card, or is it just possible for the prices to vary that much between stores like
?

Differences come down to packaging, cooling solutions, and even the specific retailers

What’s the build spec and PSU?

I’m seriously torn between picking up the Nvidia GeForce GTX 285, 1GB DDR3, with TV-out and dual DVI for $2,539.00, or just going with the Sapphire Radeon HD4870 GS, 1GB DDR5, PCI-E, featuring TV-out and dual DVI at $2,414.00.

🤣 You can snag an HD 4870 for $333, not 2.5k
.
What's your monitor resolution?

Wait, wouldn't the new ATI Radeon HD 5850 be a better call?

Alright, so I'm on the hunt for a new GPU!

Here’s the current situation;

__________________________________________________ _______________
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800

Motherboard: Gigabyte M55plus-S3G

PSU: The power supply came built into the case, here's the link http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/system-cabin...eries-6099-ca/

RAM: 2x512MB in dual channel

Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster T220
__________________________________________________ _______________

I've got $333 set aside for the graphics card, and I'm also thinking about grabbing an extra 2x2GB of RAM to throw in there too...

I need this card for 3D modeling, video editing, and all that jazz—you know, Maya, Adobe After Effects, etc.—and obviously for gaming as well.

I don't plan on touching the CPU because, frankly, I just don't have the cash for that right now...

So, let's hear your recommendations! Best wishes and cheers XD

Thanks XD

Grab an EVGA 460 W power supply from Ve-Mil for about $100
then pair it with an Nvidia GeForce 250 gts for maybe 750-$267

Why on earth would I need a new power supply? Is my current 400W unit really not going to cut it?

It might be, but it also might not be—you probably don't want to know 😁
That's just a generic, off-brand power supply, and those are never reliable. When you're looking at a GPU, the most critical thing to check is the amperage on the +12V rails.
Play it safe and just go with what Tamb suggests.

That's just some off-brand, no-name power supply, and let me tell you, those things are never, ever reliable. If you care about your GPU, the only thing that actually matters is the amperage on those +12V rails.
Just play it safe and do what Tamb suggests.

Look, I mean, I think the power supply will be fine! I'm an optimist at heart, really... 🤣

Look, just don't come blaming us when it dies and takes the motherboard and GPU down with it. ^^
