You could just mount an 80mm fan above the current one. You can secure it in place using zip ties, rubber bands, or even some silicone

But seriously, how on earth is someone supposed to fit a bulky 80mm fan inside a slim laptop? 😁

I’ll most likely be heading out tomorrow to hunt for a new graphics card, but I am honestly having such a hard time deciding! I haven't really been keeping up with the latest GPU trends lately, so I'm feeling a little lost.

4850 (Gigabyte)$386 (Found one outside of Chicago, so I might swing by a shop in Naperville to see if they have it in stock)
9800GTX (XFX) $433 (Also available somewhere outside the city)
4850 (Sapphire) for $1299 (Currently in stock)
8800GTS (This would actually be my top pick, but it looks like it's sold out at $333)

Any advice? I could really use some help making a choice!🙂

edit: wiredmarlin5, I just saw that you replied to me on that other forum, so no need to get back to me here!😁

Anthony Scott93 said:This. It’s a decent Best Buy at this price point—nothing to write home about, certainly, but it holds its own. While it won't win any drag races, it performs quite adequately—if not a bit more—at that resolution.

Purchased, tested, and performing flawlessly—I actually managed to breeze through Need for Speed in just three days. Thanks for the pointers; feel free to close this thread. 🙂

You really ought to hurry up and grab yours, because at this rate, they’ll be all gone before you even know it... 🙂

I’ve got a feeling prices have dropped over at Best Buy too—or maybe they just stocked up on those newer graphics cards 🤷
now you can grab the 512 version for just $333

So, here’s the situation
1. I'm looking for something with a pci-e
slot. 2. Current setup is an x2 4800+ with 2GB of RAM; I can't quite recall the exact motherboard model, and the power supply is a generic 450W Chiftec.
3. My current resolution is sitting at 1284X1024.
4. My budget is roughly around $333 dollars.

I was thinking about checking out Best Buy or maybe finding a local shop somewhere in a city like Columbus or maybe Indianapolis.

There aren't any GTX cards left, and GTejki is down to his very last 15 units...

Did they already clear everything out, or was there nothing there to begin with?

Hey there,,,,,

I’m planning on finally upgrading my graphics card soon, but I’ve hit a complete standstill trying to decide what to get... Right now, I'm stuck with a 7600gt..

CPU: X2 4800
RAM: 1 GB currently
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M55S-S3

My only real requirement is that whatever I pick actually runs games like CMR3, NFS, and stuff like that on decent settings...

What kind of PSU are you running, and what did it set you back?

So here’s what I’m rocking right now:
-AMD 5200+
-Gigabyte GA-M55S-S3
-3GB RAM
-550W Chieftec
-A 17" LCD that I am definitely swapping out for a 20" or 22" soon
-HD2600XT

Now, I'm looking to swap out my graphics card just in time for Christmas so I can actually play games the way they're supposed to be played, you know? I've got $467 to work with. Right now, I'm torn between the HD4850 and the 8800GTS. Is there anything better than those two for the cash I'm dropping? If not, which one should I grab?

I want to upgrade my GPU this Christmas so I can actually play games properly. My budget is $467. I'm looking at either an HD4850 or an 8800GTS. Is there anything better than those two for that kind of money? If not, which one should I go with?

If the GeForce comes with a superior cooler—specifically a dual-slot design—then grab that; otherwise, go with the 8800.
