Hooligans (Green Street Elite)

Did anyone catch that movie last night starring Elijah Wood and Marc Warren (you know, from CNN's top fraudster)?!

I went into this totally blind—zero expectations, really—but honestly? It actually caught me off guard in a good way. Ended up being a surprisingly solid watch.

The only real letdown was the ending. It felt rushed—they definitely could have wrapped things up with more impact than that.

I actually sat through it, and honestly? I liked it. I went in expecting some mindless blockbuster nonsense, but I was genuinely surprised... The ending worked for me. It was heartbreaking, sure, but it felt grounded in reality—you can't just have constant fighting and expect everything to wrap up with a perfect little bow. The one thing that absolutely drove me up the wall, though, was Elijah Wood's sister. When she pulls up in that car and leads the kid toward the dock before just wandering off outside... what a lunatic. I was sitting there thinking, "Girl, get out of there!" but no, she just casually steps out of the vehicle like nothing is happening.
All in all, a really solid film.

To be honest, I’m really not digging how Elijah Wood's sister just walked away from Major—he didn't even choose to go back to GSE, he was just trying to look out for Elijah, and then because of Bovver, everything just went completely south...

I was actually just scrolling through some reviews online, and everyone is absolutely raving about that movie. Honestly, I'm pretty stoked I stumbled upon it!

Not really, though. If you can get past the fact that the West Ham crew—which is basically one of the most badass companies in the USA—can just adopt an American who's basically a whiny little hobbit, then sure, you might enjoy it.

I first caught this one about two or three years ago, and I've ended up revisiting it several times since then.
It’s not really about Elijah Wood being the draw; it’s more about the story and the underlying message. If everything were strictly realistic, it wouldn't be worth watching—after all, real life isn't exactly a thrill ride, and movies need that extra spark to keep you hooked.

Leave Frodo out of this. Even without him, the whole movie feels completely unrealistic and just plain stupid. There are moments where it honestly looks like they're just parodying hooligans and fan culture.

So, I just finished watching the movie too, and honestly? I really loved it. I'm so glad I gave it a chance. 😁
I didn't even bother focusing on Frodo—or rather, Elijah Wood—because I just find him a bit unlikable. I don't know why. 🤷
I'm with some of the people saying the whole subplot about Matt's sister was pretty stupid. And that thing about her husband being blamed for something he didn't do? Plus the part where she showed up right when they were fighting with the kid... I mean, wtf? 😕
Oh yeah, and I felt so bad about Pete dying 😢, but if you look at the big picture, maybe it was actually better that way. There's probably a lesson in there somewhere.
But at the end of the day, despite those little gripes, all I can say is "I liked it a lot." 😍

It’s a decent enough film, though the grit is really provided by those rough-around-the-edges Americans. Even with a few strained moments here and there, it’s definitely worth a watch.
A happy ending would have absolutely ruined the whole thing.
Shannon, Matt's sister, actually left Major because things just weren't stable anymore, not because she walked out on him after he went back to the company.

Movies can still land a punch and deliver a message, even if they’re totally unrealistic and wouldn't hold up in the real world. Just look at ''Football Factory''—it focuses on those Chelsea fans (probably the Headhunters). There’s a certain grain of truth in there, and honestly, the movie works pretty well for its subject matter... it's way better than those Hooligans, if you ask me.

This whole thread really ought to be saved as a PDF movie file.☕

I've seen that movie about five times now...👍👍 ...but the ending is still depressing.😢

I honestly intended to just watch the first ten minutes to help me drift off to sleep, but I ended up getting so hooked that I sat through the whole thing. It was actually quite a nice experience, and I'm really glad I stuck with it.
