I have two young daughters, and I’ve bookmarked this site because I find myself using it constantly.
My question is simple: why is it that the very first thing I see when I open this page is this subforum Love, Erotica, and Sex? Could you please move it somewhere less prominent? It’s incredibly eye-catching in the worst way possible. My kids have clicked on this bookmark several times, and the first thing they encounter is adult content—ranging from romance to graphic topics (like some guy spitting in a woman's face, for instance). I’m sure there are plenty of other parents out there dealing with this exact same issue.😠

We are making a concerted effort to ensure that no profanity finds its way into our headlines, especially since the subject matter discussed within this sub-forum is intended for a more mature audience!

Given that we are discussing young children, my formal recommendation is that parents actively monitor their internet usage rather than leaving them entirely unsupervised online. 👍

Best regards 🙂

The issue is, why is this specific subforum romance, erotica, and sex the very first thing that pops up when I open the page? Could you move it somewhere less glaringly obvious? My kids have clicked this bookmark several times now, and the first thing they land on is the adult section—usually some graphic thread about something inappropriate, like a guy spitting in someone's face. I'm sure there are plenty of other parents out there dealing with this exact same headache.😠

Just clear that bookmark and save a different section instead, like the teen lounge or just the main homepage. That way, when they click the link, they'll land on the general forum or a safer area rather than jumping straight into the deep end. Hopefully, that solves it. 🙂

The moderators can drag their feet all they want, but you are absolutely spot on—and you certainly aren't the only one noticing this issue.

I have no desire to come across as some sort of moralizing puritan; I browse adult content, I read provocative topics, and I don't shy away from the gritty stuff myself. But we have a responsibility to protect our kids.

Just consider the psychological impact on a child seeing things online by the age of seven or eight that most of us didn't encounter until we were well into our twenties—things like extreme violence, depravity, or actual killings.

We really need to take a collective moment to wrap our heads around that.

The issue is, why is this specific sub-forum Love, Romance, and Intimacy the very first thing I see whenever I open this page? Could you perhaps move it to a less conspicuous spot? It’s just so jarringly visible. My kids have clicked on this bookmark a few times now, and the very first thing they land on is the romance and sex section—and usually some pretty graphic thread titles (like a guy getting spit on or something similar). I’m sure there are plenty of other parents out there dealing with this exact same awkward situation.😠

To be honest, that forum stays at the top for a reason that isn't really hard to guess, especially if you take a look at how many users are active in those threads at any given moment.

One quick fix is that you can actually collapse the entire "Society" category by clicking on , which keeps the romance section from jumping out at you.

Otherwise, if you want total peace of mind and complete control over what shows up on the screen, you might want to look into some parental control tools like these:

http://www.freeshield.com/
http://infosecawareness.in/isea-events/isea/parents
http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives...efox_addon.php

There are plenty of options out there; these are just a couple that I happen to know about.

Honestly, if you actually want to be proactive about this—and let’s face it, it would be the smart, responsible move here—you could just toggle on some parental controls to keep the kids from stumbling onto those sketchy, "bouncy" websites, and then slap a password on the specific corners of the web you visit so they aren't snooping through your business

Look, I’m sorry, but if you actually have kids, why on earth are you letting them run wild on the internet? 🤷 ☕

So, are you actually going to forbid your own children from using the internet, or what?

Honestly, what kind of parent lets a preschooler surf the web without any supervision at all? 🙂

I mean, if they're tiny toddlers... then sure, no way.☕

But what's the point of an 8-year-old being allowed to surf the web?

what business does an 8-year-old have surfing the web?

I realize how that sounds—but there is plenty of educational content out there...

not to mention the benefits of building digital literacy from an early age.

Now, whether kids should have unrestricted access or need constant parental supervision—that's a whole different debate...

Well, obviously.

I mean, kids are already taking computer science classes in elementary school now...

But at the end of the day, it's on the parents to watch over their kids, ☕
just like they'd keep an eye on who their kid hangs out with or tell them not to talk to strangers... they can also keep tabs on what they're browsing or reading online.
And let's not forget those "parents" who spend their late nights browsing sketchy adult sites while their kids are fast asleep. ☕

Tell your tech-savvy grandkids that if they want their own bookmarks, they can just set them up themselves and manage their own tabs... or better yet, just install Google Chrome on their machine so they can tinker to their heart's content while you stick to using Opera on yours. It’s that simple. Everyone deserves their own space. If they refuse to follow the rules, they really shouldn't be complaining about how the computer works. They need to make a choice. A little bit of discipline wouldn't hurt... ☕

Just set up a separate user profile on the PC for your kid.

Having porn in your bookmarks doesn't mean your children need to be seeing it.

Speak for yourself. Not everyone is obsessed with that stuff—I don't even touch those kinds of sites myself.😍😍😍😍

I don't need to be a parent to have a coherent thought...☕

And frankly, I haven't seen you offer a single intelligent point yet... let alone anything remotely useful...😁

The fact that your bookmarks might include adult sites doesn't mean your children have any business seeing them.

or whatever 👍

A little bit of organization goes a long way, and everyone stays happy and satisfied. Honestly, you can make a computer do just about anything... if you actually bother to learn the basics...😉
