My health insurance card just expired—I need a replacement ASAP. Do I actually have to trek back to my home county where my permanent address is listed, or can I just head down to the local clinic here near my university to get it sorted?

They actually mailed me my new health insurance card a couple weeks before the old one even expired... such a weird move on their part! 🤷

And from what I know, you have to request the new one through the same office listed on your ID... so basically wherever your current home address is registered.

It all depends on where you're registered for health insurance
For instance, my permanent address is technically back in a small town outside of Cleveland, but my actual residence—and everything else, including my health insurance coverage—is based right here in Chicago.

I'm actually looking to get my new health insurance card too, and they told me I don't even have to swing by the office—they're just gonna mail it to me via USPS! 🤷

Thanks for the input.
I’m going to give them a call—see if they can just mail it out or if I actually have to drive over there myself.
