Open Water Swimming Marathons

July is winding down, and I’m planning to sign up for the San Francisco-Oakland marathon. Has anyone here tackled this race before? If so, give me some advice on what to expect!

Do you train for any aquatic sports—swimming or water polo, maybe? If so, then it shouldn't be an issue for you (it isn't for me).

I’m not a pro or anything, just hitting the pool four times a week for an hour at a time.

I was looking over the results and honestly, I'm floored. This guy clocked in at 57 minutes!?
In an hour, I usually cover about 2 kilometers. He’ll be finished before I even get to the starting line. 😁

And what about those sharks? 😲
