Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World (2011)

image_fan-made poster
Release date: August 19, 2011 (USA)

Can you believe it? Hollywood Reporter just dropped the news that Jessica Alba is jumping into the mix for the new family flick "Spy Kids 4"!

If you look back at the first three movies, we had Antonio Banderas and Carlos Guydino playing the spy parents while Alex Vega and Daryl Sabara handled the kid roles, right?

Well, Robert Rodriguez is back in the director's chair for this fourth installment, and he’s doing it all in 3D! In this one, Jessica Alba plays a retired spy mom who suddenly finds herself pulled back into the field for a brand new mission. They haven't even picked the actor to play her husband yet—can you imagine the casting possibilities?

Regia: Robert Rodriguez
Cast: Jessica Alba, Jeremy Piven and Alex Vega

Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World is an upcoming American action-adventure family film directed by Robert Rodriguez and the fourth film in the Spy Kids series. The film is the fourth in the series since Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over it is to be released in 3D and is currently set to be released on August 19, 2011. Filming has already begun as of October 27, 2010. The film is produced by Troublemaker Studios and distributed by Dimension Films, Miramax Films, and Walt Disney Pictures.

from Wikipedia

Rednja:
The film revolves around twins Rebecca and Cecil who cannot get along with their stepmother Marissa Cortez Wilson who married their father, Wilbur, a spy-hunting reporter. However unbeknownst to them, Marissa is a retired spy for the Organization of super Spies which has since become the world's top spy agency and former headquarters of the now-defunct Spy Kids Division. When the world is threatened by The Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven), a maniac who attempts to take over the planet, she is called back into action by the head of the OSS. With the end of the world approaching, Rebecca and Cecil are forced to join the action and join hands with Marissa to put their differences aside to save the world. The two receive some help from former Spy Kids, Carmen and Juni Cortez, who have since grown to teenagers and will provide them with new gadgets. Interestingly, Marissa's maiden name is Cortez which is the same family name of Carmen and Juni Cortez, the former protagonists of the series, though it is unknown if she has any connection to them.

Honestly, it feels like Rodriguez is just doing his absolute best to bury his own legacy and torch whatever tiny bit of street cred he has left. Instead of actually leaning into more sequels for Sin City, he's out here grinding away at this total nonsense...

Honestly, I’ve got a little bit of resentment and zero sympathy here, because let's be real—this kind of stuff is made for the kids, not for us grown-ups who actually have taste. 😉😁

If you ask me, he's really just doing it for the paycheck, milking the money out of children and their parents who are going to be rushing to the theaters first, and then they'll all go out and buy the movie in bulk once it hits DVD. 👍😁

What even drives you to start threads about movies like this? Are you trying to turn the Film subforum into a budget version of IMDb? 🤷

Ugh, man, I totally thought this was dropping at the start of the year, but then I just saw it's actually slated for the very end of the year.

I can't help but wonder, though... is this actually going to be any good? Like, will it be better than that last one—you know, the one that was "funny" in all the wrong ways?—or could it somehow manage to be even worse if we're lucky?
One thing is for sure, though: the kids in this are definitely going to be cool.

The official poster just dropped:

Get ready, because "Spy Kids 4" is actually bringing scents to the theater!

And when I say 4D, I’m totally not kidding, okay? It turns out Robert Rodriguez is really leaning into that "Aromascope" thing, which means you’ll actually be able to smell stuff while watching in the cinema! Can you even imagine how wild that's going to be?

Not again! Wasn't that 3D sequel basically the nail in the coffin? 🙄

At the very least, the cast is solid, if nothing else.

I've honestly had enough of these Spy Kids movies. 🙄

I really thought things would wrap up after the 3D one, but here they come again... 🙄

It feels like you're just draining your career with sequels like this.

After that mess, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D, it was time to move on from that style...

Honestly, this whole Spy Kids thing is just absolute garbage -_- It’s strictly for some preteen audience in the 5 to 13 age range.😁

I found the first two Spy Kids films to be quite enjoyable, but the third one was a massive letdown🤣🤣🤣 😂 😂 😂
The image quality was poor, the special effects were frankly atrocious, and there was absolutely no substance to the plot. I struggled to wrap my head around how much the quality had dipped when comparing it back to the first two installments; the story in the third part felt completely hollow. I suppose, unfortunately, I suspect the fourth one might also be a bit of a disaster.☕

🤦 I honestly can't remember the last time I sat through such a trash trailer 👎. This movie isn't even going to hold a kid's attention. I'm calling it now: this is looking like a 2 or 3 on IMDb, if I'm being generous

Well, it certainly couldn't be any worse than the third one🤷

This is gonna be a cinematic masterpiece. I'm calling it now—it’ll crack the IMDb Top 250. They're even throwing scents into the mix with 👍

I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but I've been thinking about that movie again. It’s one of those things that just sticks in your head, you know? Just a random thought popping up while I was grabbing coffee this morning. Anyway, what do you guys think? kaže:
They’re even letting us catch a whiff of the scent. 👍

So, what happens if one of the actors lets one rip and you actually catch a whiff of it? 😁
Ali 4 D isn't really what they're making it out to be. They keep pushing this "Aromascope" thing, but honestly, those scents have absolutely nothing to do with how that kind of technology actually works. It feels like a total gimmick.
So, I was thinking about those 4D theaters they have out there now. It’s basically just your seat shaking and jolting around to match whatever crazy stuff is happening on screen, combined with 3D—kind of like being strapped into a roller coaster at Six Flags. Pretty wild when you think about it.
So, you're looking at both physical sensation and optical feedback. Basically, it’s that combo of feeling it and seeing it happen right in front of you.

Look, you know how my grandpa thinks Predator, Terminator, and Alien are terrible movies? Well, he’s eighty years old, so it totally makes sense that they aren't really his thing, but to me? They’re absolute masterpieces...

It’s the exact same deal with Spy Kids—it isn't exactly meant for people over twelve, let alone adults, right? That's why you see all these negative comments, because most of the people hanging out on this forum are probably well over twenty, whereas for a little kid who's seven, eight, nine, or ten, Spy Kids is basically a cinematic masterpiece...

I mean, I'm twenty-seven myself, but hey, sometimes that inner kid just takes over and I find myself sitting down to watch a movie made for children.

Then why even start this thread if kids aren't allowed to comment anyway🤷(unless there's some random six-year-old registered here), Spy Kids was total garbage to me even when I was a kid☕.

Look, I started this whole thread for my own sake, and for anyone else out there who's like me 😂 because honestly, sometimes I feel like a total six-year-old myself and just want to sit down and watch a kid's movie. 😉

Wait, you were actually a kid back in 2001? Man, how old are you even? 🤷

We’re officially counting down—less than 30 days until the big premiere! 👍

So, what do you guys think? Is this one gonna be a total flop, just okay, or actually better than the ones we saw before? 🤷
I mean, honestly, I’m not holding my breath for it to be any better than the previous movies... at most, it might just be a step down, but hey, who knows? Maybe they'll actually pull a fast one on us and surprise everyone. 😉
