A debate has broken out in my household—what exactly were we watching?
A Western?
Fantasy?
A mystery?

I’m calling on anyone who actually saw this movie to weigh in. I want to hear your take.

A psychedelic Rambow-style Western? 😁
The movie is decent enough. It’s got action, and by the end, you’re left scratching your head, wondering if there was actually some deeper subtext at play. When I first sat through it, I thought I had a handle on the theme—but honestly, now that some time has passed, it’s all a bit fuzzy. Maybe it’s just a glorified version of a Coyote and Road Runner cartoon dressed up to look like something profound?
It’s an entertaining watch. Though, I have to say, seeing such big-name actors felt a little distracting. If they’d used some unknowns, I’m convinced this thing would have achieved cult status.
Pierce Brosnan really pulls off that "Kit Carson" facial hair and Stetson combo. I could easily see him leading a gritty serial in the vein of Tex Willer.

My family and I had ourselves a bit of an argument over this—we were going back and forth for a while—but now it’s clear that I'm not the only one who walked away with that impression!

I have to admit, I didn't quite wrap my head around that movie, but even so, I still consider it one of the better Westerns we've seen lately. That being said, I can't help but feel the film would have landed much more effectively if they had cut out all that psychedelia—just like my namesake above mentioned. Still, I suppose it isn't such a bad idea to trim the fat, especially when I recall how poorly that psychedelic approach worked in another Western, >. Honestly, I nearly smashed my DVD player right after watching >.

I’ve been seeing some people call this an absolute masterpiece of a Western, while others are complaining that the pacing is just way too slow. Honestly, I haven't even sat down to watch it yet, mostly because I'm just not sure if I want to risk blowing two hours of my life on something that might end up being a total dud.
