Help! I’ve got a bronchoscopy scheduled for tomorrow morning at Mount Sinai. When the doctor first mentioned it yesterday, I wasn't really sweating it, but after picking up my referral this afternoon and doing a little deep dive online... yeah, I'm spiraling. Now I'm totally panicking. I saw that dingy basement where the clinics are located, and honestly, the whole place looks like it hasn't been updated since World War II. It's pretty sketchy.
Anyway, does anyone here have experience with the pulmonology department over at Mount Sinai? Has anyone heard anything about Dr. Miklić? He seems super nice, but that's about all I know. Also, has anyone actually gone through a bronchoscopy before?
Please....

Elizabeth Phillips49 said:Basically, is there anyone online who’s dealt with pulmonology at Mayo Clinic? Has anyone heard anything about Dr. Miklić—he seems super sweet, but I don't know much else—or maybe someone's actually had a bronchoscopy there...
Please....

I’ve had all kinds of experiences with that department, and honestly, every single one of them—and I mean EVERY single one—has been positive. It’s just an incredible group of smart, capable people, and they've been led for years by Dr. Grbac, who is hands down the most wonderful doctor in history.

Dr. Miklić is also such a great guy—a total pro and just a genuinely kind soul who’s always ready to step up and help.

Don't let the anxiety get to you beforehand. They deal with patients coming in for their first bronchoscopy every single day, so they totally get the nerves and know exactly what you're going through leading up to the procedure. The nurses there (truth be told, I haven't been back in about three and a half years, but I doubt much has changed) are seriously empathetic, they really know their stuff, and they go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of.

Look, a bronchoscopy isn't exactly a walk in the park, but I can't imagine a better place to have it done than there 🙂

Fingers crossed for you... let us know how it goes

Yeah, everything you guys said is spot on... everyone there was actually super polite and helpful, honestly more down-to-earth than I expected. I’ve had two checkups so far and I haven't had anything but good experiences.
But man, that exam really sent me into a bit of a panic. It wasn't exactly a walk in the park, and that facility just doesn't exactly scream "trustworthy"... thanks for reminding me that it's about the people, not the building.
Uhhh....

So, how did the bronchoscopy go? I have a general idea of what they’re doing, but I’m curious about the actual process. Is it super uncomfortable or painful? Do they give you some kind of sedation or something just to take the edge off?😕 Most importantly, I'm really hoping the results come back looking good!!!!!

Thanks, everyone... they actually ended up skipping my bronchoscopy because there wasn't a specialist on call! I'll probably check back in once I decide if I really want to go through with the whole thing again...
Thanks again for all the support...
