Banned?!

I was wondering how exactly these negative points are calculated?
How many of them does one actually need to accumulate before facing a Ban?
If anyone could provide a bit more of a detailed breakdown regarding this, I’d appreciate it.

I guess if you take a look through that thread, things might start making more sense to you.

Strikes and Penalty Points

* deranje (ALL CAPS) - 10 points
* Offtopic - 10 points
* Spam - 10 points
* Signature violates forum rules - 10 points
* Trolling - 20 points
* Advertising in signature - 30 points
* Breaking subforum rules - 30 points
* Insulting users - 45 points
* Advertising on the forum - 50 points
* Restoring deleted signatures - 50 points
* Piracy - 100 points (3-day ban)
* Doxing / Posting private info - 500 points (7-day ban)
* Severe harassment of users - 500 points (7-day ban)
* Hate speech - 500 points (7-day ban)
* Pure spamming ads (only posting ads) - 1000 points (automatic permanent ban)
* Creating a sockpuppet account while banned - 1000 points (permanent ban)

So, here’s how the penalty system looks right now. If I change anything—and I probably will—I'll update this list.
The days listed in parentheses show how long it takes for the points from THAT specific strike to expire and stop counting toward your total. The strike itself stays on your record, but the point value next to it will just say "0 points."

Just a heads up: these are basically "instant warnings" (or bans), but we're leaving it up to the mods' discretion whether they want to pull the trigger immediately or stick to the old way of doing things before we had this strike system.

From here on out, you'll also hit a 3-day ban once you reach 200, 300, or even 400 points. To all the collectors out there... good luck, you're gonna need it.

Update: we added more tiers. Hitting 600, 700, 800, or 900 points now triggers a 7-day ban.
Why the change? Because it’s honestly pretty unfair to the regular users who get slapped with a ban every time they hit 100 points, while the guys sitting on 500 to 1000 points can basically do whatever they want without getting timed out.
