Hey there,

I was wondering if anyone here has experience tying a weight to a rope? I’m thinking about rigging up three hooks around a sinker so I can toss it into those spots where the net always gets snaggedβ€”you know, right where πŸ™‚ usually hangs out. Since nylon just won't cut it for this, I need something a bit more heavy-duty. What would you guys suggest?

I'm wondering if the carp have started feeding on corn because this heatwave is just getting ridiculous...

No.
Usually, the hatch happens around late April or early May.
But given the flooding this year and the unseasonable warmth, they'll likely start biting even earlier. Especially out in the farmland near the Mississippi river basin and those areas currently underwater.

Last year, once the floodwaters finally receded from the fields, I went out there with a bucket and a small net, helping my younger brother scoop them up and toss them back into the river.
Billions of them ended up dead once the water levels dropped.
Everything from carp and pike to catfish and perch.

Quick questionβ€”does anyone happen to have any VSP films lying around??

Thanks a million!

If you wouldn't mind, please feel free to share anything regarding fishingβ€”I am interested in discussing both types of angling.

If one evaluates the matter based strictly on the competitive aspect combined with measurable outcomesβ€”specifically the volume or weight of the catchβ€”then the answer is yes. However, if we account for the sheer physical exertion required and the heavy reliance on external variables, such as the quality of the location, mere luck, or the reality that repetitive practice offers diminishing returns, then the answer is no. If our criteria shift toward total yield, cost-effectiveness, and the logistical complexity of managing specialized gear, then it is an unequivocal yes. 😁

Greetings, fellow anglers. I was wondering if anyone might have any insight regarding recent fish stocking efforts in the areas surrounding Oakland... specifically near the old brickworks, though I suppose any information would be appreciated...

Good afternoon.
I’m looking at planning a trip with two buddies to head out to some remote spots near the Ozarks or maybe up toward the Boundary Waters to trout fish. The plan is to set up a decent tent, grill up some fresh catch, and just enjoy the wilderness. I wanted to know if there are any specific areas along those rivers where I can pull my truck right up, pitch a camp, fish, and cook without getting harassed? Is camping or fishing restricted in certain zones, and am I going to need a specific fishing license to stay legal? Ideally, I'm looking for somewhere quiet and secludedβ€”though I doubt anyone is out there this time of year anyway. Any leads?
