Please, someone tell me what is going on. I’ve been playing soccer lately and ended up catching a cold, then yesterday a fever hit and my tonsils started hurting. Last night I noticed blood in my urine, and while my temperature dropped slightly today, I've already passed nothing but blood twice now along with excruciating pain. I am terrified to even think about seeing a doctor because I'm scared it's something serious—plus, I haven't even told my parents yet. Please, if anyone has any advice or knows what this could be, let me know what I should do!!! Thank you

Listen, you need to get to the hospital today. If you're over 18, head to your primary care doctor for a referral; otherwise, go straight to pediatrics. Seriously, don't wait—get checked out immediately.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look, let's make sure you don't freak out... kid, you likely have a really nasty bladder infection that needs immediate treatment. If you sit on this, things could get seriously ugly very fast. Don't be a clown about this—just be straight with your parents about what's going on. That’s what being mature and responsible looks like. Doctors exist specifically to help you when stuff like this hits. It isn't your fault; getting sick happens to everyone. Got it?
They're going to run a urine culture to pin down the exact bacteria causing this mess, and then they'll give you the specific antibiotic needed to wipe it out.

Don't waste time hunting down paperwork; just have your parents take you straight to the ER or urgent care. They can handle everything on the spot, and you'll be heading home with your meds in no time.
Don't be scared—they aren't going to do anything to cause you pain, aside from maybe a quick blood draw along with the urine sample. Just tell them everything that happened and make sure you mention that your tonsils are hurting too. That is MANDATORY.

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping things would turn around today, but they definitely haven't. My fever just spiked and the pain is getting even worse. I'll be heading to the doctor tomorrow. Thanks again for the input.

Look, you need to get to the ER right now because you could be looking at sepsis. This isn't something you wait on; it's incredibly serious!

So you're telling me I'll get prostate cancer AND die tonight just to end up on the front page of the New York Post? PLEASE, don't scare the kid!

PS: Worst case scenario, they'll just have to cut it out! 😂

Ellipsa, it's pretty clear you don't really grasp how medical realities work🙄. Look, the kid is dealing with tonsillitis AND a severe bacterial bladder infection, which is hitting him with high fevers, abdominal pain, and blood in his urine.
It might not seem critical this second, but the situation is clearly spiraling. If treatment doesn't start immediately, things can go south fast—the bacteria could hit his bloodstream, leading to sepsis, which is lethal if left unchecked. I wouldn't sit around waiting for sepsis to kick in, though maybe you would.🤷
Just google it and get educated. Read what Harold Ramirez49 wrote—he’s actually in the medical field—and notice how much worse things have gotten since he posted. Who knows where his condition will be by morning.
Nobody here is trying to scare anyone; we're just stating the facts.

Come on, man, you can't just drop dead in a single day...
What am I even supposed to say when I’ve been feeling like absolute hell for two weeks straight and the doctors can't find a damn thing wrong?
If that were the case, I would've been six feet under a long time ago!

I would've kicked the bucket a long time ago by then!

🙄

Fine, Dr. Ellipsa, you win. You're right.☕

Noah Morales8, I really hope everything turns out okay and that you've already seen a specialist. Check back in once you know what they told you and how you're holding up.

Hey, I was at the doctor's clinic earlier this morning getting my bloodwork and urine tests done. They gave me an injection to bring down my fever, which worked pretty well, but once I got my results back this afternoon, it turns out I have a severe urinary tract infection. The doctor told me to drink some cranberry tea and prescribed a round of antibiotics, so it wasn't actually anything life-threatening after all. I honestly thought I had caught some kind of "death sentence" disease 🙂 thanks for the advice!!!

Man, I just hope he guessed the right antibiotic, because it’s pretty clear he didn't run a culture. That's exactly why we suggested you head to the ER—they would have isolated the specific bacteria immediately and hit it with the exact antibiotic it's most sensitive to.
Keep up with the tea, and don't be stingy with it; as soon as you go to the bathroom, go grab another cup. You need to flush those bacteria out of your system entirely. If you don't, the infection will just settle down temporarily, only to flare right back up the second conditions get favorable for them again.

What happened with your tonsils?
