Getting a PET/CT scan at Beverly Hills

Does anyone happen to know what the wait time is looking like for a PET/CT over at Beverly Hills? I'm looking for that specific scan—the one that's really crucial for folks dealing with cancer.

If you head over to Quest Diagnostics for your PET/CT scan, I imagine you won't be stuck waiting around nearly as long..

That’s the one... it's located right off Broadway and is part of the Quest Diagnostics network. As of now, it's the only one of its kind in the States.

Ah... my apologies, I wasn't aware of that... I usually head over to Quest Diagnostics for other matters and I never seem to run into any significant wait times, so I suppose I just assumed the experience was consistent across the board everywhere there.

Well, I suppose some things are covered while others aren't. I recall my grandmother once had to go in for a CT scan using a referral from her doctor, so if that’s the specific requirement for what you're looking into, then I guess that might be the case...

That's actually a specialized CT scan specifically for cancer patients, and since it costs $10, it’s definitely better if you can get it covered by a referral from your doctor.

I mean, back in the day, my insurance used to cover those costs when I was over in Austria,
so there wouldn't be much point in them paying for these $30 searches here$0.00,
for people who can just get everything covered through a referral... you know, where it ends up costing like 10 or 15 thousand dollars, it isn't 🙂

I'm dealing with some sinus issues and have been scheduled for a CT scan at a local hospital in a few days. My main concern is the radiation exposure from the machine. It’s especially worrying after reading this article and seeing what Dr. Stern had to say about it.

I suppose I'm wondering if the diagnostic results from a CT will be just as effective as an MRI, which doesn't involve radiation at all?

I'm honestly torn between going through with the CT or just paying out of pocket for an MRI.
