PhD Programs in Film Studies

I’ve been chewing on this idea for a few months now—thinking about enrolling—but honestly, I haven't heard a single word about this film school from actual students. Are there any alumni hanging out here who can give me the real scoop? What’s the vibe actually like?

One more thing. I stumbled upon some info saying you need a 4.0 GPA from a liberal arts program to even get in. Does anyone know how strictly they actually enforce that? I’ve seen similar requirements for other grad programs, yet people seem to breeze right through without hitting those numbers. Is it just a scare tactic?

Btw, I realize this probably belongs in the education or career section, but I figured I'd have better luck finding film majors here. Could the mods please let this thread stay put for a few days?

Nope—I don't personally know a single film studies professor or anyone working in that field, so I can't really say for sure!🤷

I’d consider letting him teach at a university, but he’d probably churn out ten unnecessary film degrees over the next thirty years. As for anyone else? I haven't the slightest clue. On the stock market 😬
