For about ten days now, I’ve been dealing with this constant, nagging stabbing sensation and a weird tightness all over my chest—it’s especially sharp on my left side whenever I try to take a deep breath. It’s also hitting me in my back every time I try to sit up straight. If I were an older woman, I’d probably be panicking about some pre-heart attack warning signs, but since I just turned 25, I’m honestly just sitting here completely stumped as to what could actually be going on... 😕

You should really go see a doctor. What you’re describing sounds like it could be pericarditis, but since I’m still just a medical student, I shouldn't be making any calls on this—go find someone with an actual MD 😁

I dealt with the exact same thing. Turns out it was just my cervical spine and some serious muscle spasms.. I had this sharp stabbing sensation in my chest—left side—and my left shoulder and shoulder blade were killing me.

Honestly, I thought my heart was giving out. I rushed straight to the ER for X-rays, an EKG, and blood work, but thankfully everything came back perfect.
I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that neck muscles—which felt hard as rocks to me—could trigger such a massive wave of anxiety and those sharp pains.

Don't spiral on me! Just get to a doctor and take it one step at a time..

Sounds like you're dealing with some serious pain from your thoracic spine. How much are you actually moving around or hitting the gym these days?

What you’re describing definitely doesn't sound like heart pain to me. Honestly... it sounds more like a spinal issue or maybe some pinched nerves between your ribs. A little light stretching, keeping the area warm, and maybe some Advil should do the trick.

Forget all that "follow your heart" crap—your heart isn't going to kill you. And honestly, if you think dying is some quick, easy thing, you're dead wrong. Just stop panicking, man. You're fine. I mean, just stick to the basics: get your blood work done once a year or maybe every two years, and you'll be alright. When was the last time you actually checked your vitals? Or even when was the last time you hit a sportsbook? Now that you've finally gotten a little anxious, maybe try actually taking care of yourself for once.
Besides, the odds of anything happening to you at twenty-five are about as likely as a lightning strike hitting me in Chicago. So, yeah, statistically speaking, you're golden. But then again, statistics are like a bikini... they show you everything but don't really tell you what's actually going on.

I really didn't believe that my neck muscles, which felt rock hard and super tense, could trigger such a huge range of issues... especially that stabbing sensation and that heavy feeling of anxiety.

Just try not to panic. Go see a doctor and take it one step at a time...

I’m dealing with those exact same symptoms right now. Hearing this makes me feel a bit better. How did you end up fixing it?
