Hey there!
So, I had lung surgery about seven years ago, and I’ve recently decided to take up martial arts.
My lungs were completely clear after the procedure, so now I'm wondering if I should pull the plug on training—is this actually dangerous given my surgical history, or am I good to go?
Back in the day, I played goalie, so I'm already used to diving and hitting the ground on the side where I had the operation.
Most doctors I've talked to basically told me the call is mine—they said I can do as much as I feel capable of (I asked them this four years ago, and since I haven't had any issues since then, I just kept going)—but here’s the catch: martial arts involves a massive amount of body contact and blunt force.
Thanks!
