Come on, guys, use a little logic here—do you honestly think filmmakers during production (or even in the editing room) would miss something as obvious as a microphone sticking right in the middle of a shot? And not just once, but multiple times?!

I mean, sure, it's fine when I'm watching stuff at home and you catch a mic or a stray wire (like watching some old classic in a dark room and seeing the gear, damn)

Who cares if you catch a glimpse of a mic or some background set piece for a few seconds? It really doesn't matter for a movie like this—or honestly, for any film that dances on that line between cinema and stage performance.

btw, I didn't even notice the microphone everyone's talking about, probably because I wasn't looking for it... my brain was way too busy with much more important stuff. 🙄

Look, unlike some people hanging out here, I’m actually giving huge props to how they slowly crank up the madness and paranoia. The direction is just spot on.
I mean, come on—you can't just overlook the fact that we're talking about Friedkin. He wasn't just some random guy.

The whole point is what the movie is trying to get across...

but the actual film itself? It's total garbage...

Thanks a ton for the link, though I still think the film crew could prevent this whole mess by just not sending all that "extra gore" down there. That way, the operator couldn't screw up in the first place.

But then again, someone might lose their mind because the operator would probably end up hacking away sloppily anyway. Honestly, I'd much rather deal with one microphone than half a head missing.

I’m glad I sat through it just to be reminded of how crazy people can be—it’s been a while since I saw anything even remotely like this.
But man, the movie was trash.

And don't even get me started on the microphone. I wasn't looking for it, obviously, but once I noticed it twice—one hanging and one fixed in place—I couldn't help myself. Every five minutes I'd glance up, and most of the time, there it was again. Just staring at me.

If the movie had actually been good or interesting, I definitely wouldn't have been looking at the ceiling.

Like I said, the beginning was great. It could have gone anywhere, but it didn't. Such a shame.

I've been eyeing this one for a while now, and honestly, after everything that just went down, I'm even more hyped

The second half totally falls apart for me—plus, Ashley Judd is doing way too much with the acting. It’s such a bummer because that first half was incredible... just pure, gritty misery and this crushing sense of claustrophobia. You really feel that creeping dread building up, but then everything just gets way too literal and loses its edge.

I remember watching this movie with some friends; we hadn't seen the trailer, but we were all expecting a solid horror-thriller. Honestly, we just sat there waiting and waiting for something interesting to happen, and after about 40 minutes, we completely lost our patience and walked out. I ended up finishing it the next day, purely because I didn't have anything better to do. The core concept William Friedkin had for this film isn't actually a bad idea, but the execution? It's a mess. While he manages to build a certain atmosphere, it’s constantly undermined by piles of useless, incredibly stupid scenes—the kind I call "insane/confused" moments. For instance, that sequence where the guy is jumping all over the apartment trying to convince Ashley to look at the Bug... it absolutely destroys the overall impact of the film. If it had been shot more effectively—specifically if they had trimmed at least 15 minutes off those first 60 minutes of aimless pacing—this could have actually been a good movie. Furthermore, the segment where Friedkin focuses on building the relationship between Ashley and that guy—which ends up making Ashley's ex jealous—gives off the vibe of a romantic drama or, heaven forbid, a soap opera, rather than what should have been a tense horror drama. That’s largely why everyone gave up on the movie; people just stopped caring before they could even reach that well-conceived climax. I’ll say it again: the premise is quite well-thought-out and could work, but the way it was realized makes it feel like just another failed attempt. As mistyseal11 mentioned, the idea behind the film is fine, but the film itself just doesn't hold up. But hey, that's just my two cents. It’s honestly hard to believe that a director who has delivered such phenomenal masterpieces like The Exorcist, To Live and Die in L.A., Rampage, and The French Connection can stumble into nonsense like Jailbreak, Jade, the Job of the Century (or whatever that comedy was called), and most of these Kukci.

Man, this movie felt way too personal and raw. If some random indie newcomer had directed this, it would’ve been an absolute BOMBSHELL,
but instead, it just feels like some watered-down, washed-up version of Friedkin.

He's one of my favorite directors, especially now.
The French Connection is easily in my all-time top 5.

But that ending? Total shocker. What kind of freaking horror even 🙏 🙏 🙏
