I honestly can’t wrap my head around why this happens, but for the last few years, every single summer once the heat starts kicking in, my hands begin to itch uncontrollably...
And it isn't just a surface thing either; I feel these tiny, microscopic little bumps deep under the skin. You can't even see them, but I can definitely feel them there. To be perfectly honest, those little "grains" under my skin don't actually bother me that much—it's the sheer intensity of the itching that drives me absolutely crazy... at certain points, the irritation is just maddening.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this, and more importantly, does anyone know of a way to at least take the edge off this itching and manage the sensation?

Is it an allergy, or maybe just sweaty palms making your skin act up?
My doctor suggested I stick to some neutral moisturizing creams and Beloderm
It always hits me right in the spring, too—everything gets all red, itchy, and honestly, just plain miserable.

It sounds like you might be dealing with dyshidrotic eczema—honestly, maybe try using some Diprosone cream? I guess there just isn't one super effective miracle cure out there... it seems to flare up way more often in the summer than during the winter months. Just try washing your hands with some really mild soaps and, if you can, try to stay away from all those harsh chemicals...

I deal with this same issue, though it persists year-round rather than just during the summer. Diprogenta is merely a temporary fix, given the seven-day limit on its use. Currently, I rely on Aben hand foam. I wash my hands using only the foam and then pat them dry; I avoid water entirely, as the moisture itself tends to dehydrate and irritate sensitive skin. It was quite a challenge to track down at a local drugstore since pharmacies don't carry it. It costs $16.

While Diprogenta might offer some quick relief, it feels like a mere temporary fix because you aren't supposed to use it for more than seven days at a time. Currently, I have switched to using Aben hand foam. My routine involves washing my hands strictly with that specific foam and then patting them dry immediately; I try to avoid water altogether since the water itself is often what dries out and irritates my sensitive skin. It was quite a hunt to find it at a local drugstore, as most pharmacies don't even carry it! It costs about $16.

And where on earth can one actually find that Diprogenta??

Diprogenta requires a prescription. However, I suspect your doctor won't write one without a referral from a dermatologist first.

My forearms start itching like crazy whenever I eat something I'm allergic to. You should probably get tested.

Honestly, I don't think it's an allergy at all.
It seems to pop up every single year right when the weather starts warming up, and it just lingers as long as the heat lasts...
As far as the sun goes, I don't have any typical reactions—I don't even burn! I just tan incredibly fast. My skin is naturally quite dark...

I went through the exact same thing—it was all over my palms and the soles of my feet. My doctor eventually prescribed an allergy cream and some antihistamines, which did the trick.
However, after a while, the itching flared up again. Since it happened on a Sunday and I didn't have any actual medication on hand—and let me tell you, the itch was absolutely unbearable—I ended up slathering on some Johnson's Baby diaper rash cream instead. Surprisingly, it worked! Now, whenever I feel that familiar itch starting, I reach straight for the Johnson & Johnson stuff and it clears right up. I actually mentioned this to a friend of mine, and she bought some too; she says it works just as well for her. It might be worth a shot for you, too.

Well, after a while, the itching came roaring back. It happened on a Sunday, and since I didn't have any specialized medication sitting around, the itch was just absolutely unbearable. In a moment of desperation, I reached for some Johnson's Baby diaper rash cream, slathered it on, and honestly? It worked like a charm! Now, whenever I feel even a hint of that irritation starting, I reach straight for the Johnson & Johnson stuff and the sensation vanishes. I actually mentioned this to a close friend of mine, and she ended up buying a tube too because it worked for her as well. It might be worth a shot for you, too!

I'll give it a try!! Thanks for the tip...👍

Does anyone know what this is? Any tips on how to calm the itching or get rid of these bumps?

I deal with the exact same thing—terrible itching and those little bumps that feel like grains of sand. It usually hits my hands near my fingers, and it isn't just a summer issue for me either. I used to rely on Witch Hazel ointment; it was a lifesaver for the itch, but it’s pretty harsh, so you have to use a very thin layer and not too often. Anyway, after getting allergy tests done, my doctor told me to stop using that stuff entirely. Now, I just stick to Bepanthen...

It seems silence has settled over this thread lately. :// I’m dealing with something similar—this rash on my hand, consisting of tiny little blisters. It used to flare up on my legs too, but using Diprogenta cleared everything right up. Now, however, this patch on my hand just keeps spreading. :// The frustrating part is that doctors can be a total disaster; frankly, I feel like I know more than they do after spending all this time scouring forums for answers. That’s how I’ve solved things in the past. I’ve applied Diprogenta to my arm several times already, but the rash—or whatever this is—just keeps coming back. 😢 I tried using calendula cream, but it did absolutely nothing. For a while, I even avoided soaps entirely, since it’s strange that the irritation vanished everywhere else except my hand. Still, no luck. I’m at a loss for what to try next. Perhaps something stronger than Diprogenta? I’ve heard mentions of Elocon... :// Any help would be appreciated. 🙂

Dyshidrosis. That's what I have. A steroid cream like Betamethasone clears it up in like 2 or 3 days and it stays away for a long time.

Thanks. 🙂 I believe it requires a prescription... It's rather pathetic that I have to beg my wife for it now, simply because she hasn't a clue what I'm dealing with. -.- Much appreciated.

Don't mention it,,, nobody knew what was going on with me either. Google told me first, then I just told my doctor... and he was like, "Yeah, actually."😂

I went through the exact same thing on my hands. A buddy of mine suggested using Octenisept spray, which you can just pick up at any local CVS or Walgreens. You just spray the whole area where the blisters or open sores are; even if it seems to clear up quickly, you should probably keep spraying it for a little while longer. If it pops up again, just start using the spray again. It doesn't seem to have any side effects, but man, it really does work. here's a link with a picture.
