Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Well, it just hit theaters here in the States and it’s already sitting at #1. Honestly, the first Fantastic Four wasn't really my thing, but I have to check this one out just because of the Silver Surfer—I've actually already started downloading it. I'm a massive fan of the Silver Surfer, and I have a feeling we might even be looking at a third installment down the road.

I’ve heard enough reviews to know the Silver Surfer is barely even in this thing.
How the hell do you title a movie "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" and then give the Silver Surfer such a pathetic amount of screen time?!?!?! Seriously... get this... SILVER SURFER DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ANY FIGHTS IN THE FILM! He never throws down with the Fantastic Four; he gets one shot at Doom and spends the rest of the time dodging missiles. It's ridiculous. A movie titled "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" features the Silver Surfer with about 15 minutes of screen time with zero fights. All he does in the movie is go around digging potholes for Galactus! LAME LAME LAME LAME!
Well, if you're actually interested, there's talk about making a standalone Silver Surfer movie.

People have been buzzing about a Silver Surfer solo project for years now, but we still haven't seen anything materialize. As for the new Fantastic Four, I found the first one pretty underwhelming, so my expectations for the sequel aren't exactly sky-high. That said, I'll probably end up catching it in theaters once it actually drops.

Honestly, that Fantastic Four flick is easily the dumbest superhero movie ever made..
Like, what even is that? Five random losers get superpowers, screw everything up, feel bad about it, become heroes, and then—boom—end of part one.

And the sequel is just pure nonsense...
I've always thought Silver Surfer was such a cool character, but what the hell was this movie? The characters are incredibly unlikable, shallow, and boring. The plot is ridiculous and the whole thing is just garbage no matter how you look at it.
Man, if Alba had actually shown some skin, maybe it would've been worth watching for the R-rating, but instead...

I haven't seen the sequel yet, but man, the first one was such a disaster... I can only imagine how bad this one turned out. 😕 😬

I just finished watching it. Honestly, if they hadn't included Silver Surfer, this would have been just as bad as the first one. But I have to give them credit here—they actually did a great job with the character. Having Laurence Fishburne provide the voice really elevates things. To me, this feels like a solid setup for a standalone movie about him, which they’ll almost certainly make.
In the comics, that board isn't his primary source of power; it's more like an aid to help him fly. In the movie, though, they made it seem like he's totally helpless without it. Then again, maybe that's just how he wants everyone to see him, considering how much he loves to spout philosophical nonsense.

Dammit, in this movie, S. S. actually dies, doesn't he?

Well, the subtitle is Rise of the Silver Surfer, not Fall of the Silver Surfer. 🙄

Whoever was in charge of casting clearly hasn't read a single Fantastic Four comic in their life—seriously. Sue Storm is supposed to be this sophisticated woman with a classic Anglo-Saxon look, not some random Latina character they just pulled out of thin air!

It doesn't even matter. They just decided that J. Alba would pull in more teenagers than anyone else. 🙂

I guess I totally forgot we're living in the age of Big Brother....

So, I finally sat down and watched this yesterday... honestly, it was pretty decent. I don't really get why some people are tearing it apart; it actually holds up quite well for me. The Silver Surfer parts were cool, and I thought the actresses did a solid job too. 😉
