I honestly loved it. Claire Danes was absolutely adorable as the lead, but honestly, the whole cast was spot on—from the main stars down to the minor characters. It was just such a beautiful fairy tale

I was honestly blown away by this movie. It hits that sweet spot where it feels like a gorgeous fairy tale, yet manages to be a clever parody of the fantasy genre all at once. The performances were top-tier—Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer were especially standout for me. My only real gripe is that I missed a few specific details from the book.
That said, it’s definitely worth a watch if you're looking for something 4+👍

It’s a solid film, though visually it feels a bit sparse in certain spots. It didn't ruin the experience for me, but it was definitely a unique change of pace to see a fantasy movie that isn't just an endless barrage of Accenture-style CGI. Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro are both at the absolute top of their game here, and honestly, the rest of the cast is just as impressive 🙂

The filmmakers tossed in some new characters and bumped others up to much higher importance (take Captain Shakespeare, for example), but the execution is masterfully crafted. Between the direction and the acting, everything lands perfectly, and even the happy ending didn't feel forced or sappy.👍
