Do you guys leave movies running in the background while you study, or maybe while cleaning or whatever?

When I'm hitting the books, I always need something playing in the background—honestly, today I feel like I could probably tackle a massive project for a local landscaper. But what happens when the material actually requires focus? 🙄

Having a movie playing in the background while you study? 😲 Personally, I think that’s just a recipe for ruining the cinematic experience...🙂

When I'm dusting the house, I usually just throw on a concert DVD; it really depends on whether I'm polishing the hardwood floors or cleaning the blinds—everything has its own tempo, so the music should follow suit... 😛

Nice. I definitely need to pick up some music DVDs myself—what's in your collection? Any standout ones you'd recommend?

Look, I crushed all my exams at State University on the first try—so, turns out studying while watching a movie isn't actually a terrible idea. It helps you hang in there longer.
And obviously, I’m not just staring at a screen all day.

She’s not pulling any weight, honestly. I don't even know how someone could structure a question like that in their head to begin with. Mind you, it’s a shame because there are way more movies designed for mindless consumption these days rather than actually sitting down to savor them. I’ve waded through a massive amount of stuff just to make sure I’m not out of the loop. My routine is usually just putting on some Prafe while I realize I have enough time to knock out a load of laundry and accidentally swap my rolling pin for a pastry cutter. There's a certain logic to it, I suppose. 😉

For just dusting around: some Robbie Williams live set
Ironing: Woodstock—but if you've really piled up the laundry, go for the Director's cut
Prepping lunch: Queen Greatest Hits
Cleaning windows: Duk & Ell live at French Riviera

I don't know, it feels kind of pointless to me to have a movie running in the background—unless, you know, I’ve already seen it like a dozen times before. I can definitely vibe to some music (which is pretty much what I’m doing most of the time anyway), but actually watching a film while doing something else... yeah, that just doesn't work for me.

I’m leaving this thread open just so I can figure out one thing (honestly, how selfish can you be? It's like someone's secretly hoping there'll be a street festival today where they can throw eggs and tomatoes at people) which legendary exam was passed with a movie playing in the background on the very first try...
....
Actually, let me just say my favorite way to watch anything is while I'm out walking. I just pop on channel 9 and head out the door... I've already "watched" some of my all-time favorites that way a few times...

But honestly, I forget—my favorite thing is just putting on a movie while I head out for a walk... I'll pop on some 90s hits and hit the pavement... I've basically rewatched my absolute favorites a dozen times that way...

I don't really watch movies in the background—what’s the point of that? Am I supposed to be watching a film while simultaneously reading a book?
I find myself flipping through channels from time to time, but it's different. For instance, the other day I had *Lethal Weapon* playing in the background while I was making dinner—though, honestly, that was only because I’ve seen it a dozen times already. I just wanted to see Joe Pesci; he always manages to crack me up... Still, when you're actually cooking, you really ought to give the food your full attention if you want it to turn out right.

I get those people who just flip through channels constantly. But honestly, the other day I had Lethal Weapon playing in the background while I was cooking—mostly because I've seen it a million times and I just wanted to see Joe Pesci pop up; he always cracks me up.


there's your answer right there. Pure studying is just boring—at least for me, it’s easier when there’s something on in the background. Helps me stay focused during the slow parts 🙂

Movies are (for the most part) always my primary focus. The only exception is when I’m looking to crash late at night; then, I’ll flip over to FOX to catch a rerun of some low-budget action flick—something starring Dudikoff or Dolph Lundgren—and I'm out like a light within minutes. 🤣
