If you wrap things up now, there might still be enough time to clear it all out before the weekend hits.😬😘 I really hope it isn't anything major. Is it that throat issue again?

Ugh, it hurts. I can barely even talk, and honestly, my jaw is so stiff in the morning I can't even open my mouth. Plus, I'm just constantly thirsty...

Maybe try spraying a little bit of propolis in there too; it shouldn't make things any worse.

Did you end up getting a swab test done? This seems to happen to you quite often.😢

Or maybe you women just have incredibly sensitive noses...
The rest of us just let testosterone wreck our sense of smell, much like how a bad case of cataracts ruins your vision. 🤣

🙂 awesome. mind pointing me in the right direction?
I know there's some documented stuff regarding kids, but I'm really looking into how this plays out in adults.
Shoot me a DM if you want—just trying to look like a total genius in front of my boss at JP Morgan. 🙂

thanks

Ciprofloxacin 500 mg absolutely wrecked my ankle. Within two hours of taking just the first pill, I felt this sharp, stabbing pain in my Achilles tendon that wouldn't quit even after the second dose. I spent a sleepless night dealing with pressure in the joint and a dull ache that lingered well into the morning. I took my next dose, headed into work, and spent the entire day wondering why on earth my foot was hurting this much. By evening, I took another dose, but after maybe an hour or two of sleep, the pain jolted me awake—and it kept happening like that until dawn. The next morning, I took a pill with my coffee; the ankle was slightly swollen and aching, which led me to suspect a side effect. I checked the patient information leaflet, and lo and behold—it explicitly states this can happen at a rate of 1:10,000 and advises stopping the medication immediately. So, I reached out to my doctor for advice, and they actually recommended I keep taking the antibiotic, provided I just kept my leg elevated and rested. I took the pill that evening, exhausted from the previous night's lack of sleep, and drifted off quickly. But how fast I fell asleep was nothing compared to how fast the pain woke me back up. It felt as if someone were crushing my ankle with a compressor; everything felt like it was snapping. The swelling around the joint looked terrifying. Since it was the weekend, I couldn't reach my doctor, and I didn't particularly want to deal with the ER, so I just stopped taking the medicine and endured the pain through Saturday and Sunday. I tried every massage technique in the book—I even used a massager on the swelling—and somehow the pain subsided enough that by Monday, I was mobile all day. It twinged occasionally, but nothing extreme; the swelling, however, remains constant. Unfortunately, I didn't finish the course; I have three pills left that I simply didn't have the courage to take. I can't help but wonder if finishing them might have calmed the inflammation. If anyone else here has encountered this specific side effect, you’ll know exactly what I’m going through.

Well, I took the pill that evening, totally exhausted from being up all night, and fell into a deep sleep—but I woke up even faster because of the pain. It felt like someone was crushing my ankle with a hydraulic press; everything felt like it was snapping. The swelling around the joint looked terrifyingly bad. Since it was the weekend, I couldn't get a hold of my doctor, and I didn't really feel like sitting in an ER waiting room, so I just stopped taking the meds entirely. I just suffered through Saturday and Sunday. I tried every massage technique in the book, even used a massager on the swelling, which helped ease the pain enough that by Monday, I could move around all day. It twinged occasionally, but nothing crazy—except the swelling stayed pretty much constant. Sadly, I didn't finish the course; I have three pills left that I just didn't have the guts to take, and part of me thinks they might have calmed the inflammation if I’d stuck it out. If anyone else runs into this side effect, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

It isn't actually that rare in practice (assuming you're looking at a large enough sample size, obviously), especially if there was already some underlying tendon injury present—which happens more often with pro athletes, weekend warriors, or people on long-term stuff like corticosteroids.

@Noah Kern73/">@@Noah Kern73 🙏 A wall of text without a single comma, period, or line break? It’s like someone took a sledgehammer to my brain. Pure agony.

This medication falls under the fluoroquinolone class, which basically means we're talking about some incredibly potent stuff.
In fact, there’s already a massive class-action lawsuit brewing over one of these drugs right here in the USA.

Even though it still seems to get prescribed pretty aggressively around here.
Honestly, I’ve never actually taken it—even when it was handed to me—mostly because the list of side effects looks like a mile-long grocery list, and all that for just one single ailment? No thanks.
So many people have dealt with serious tendon issues—some temporary, some permanent—that you really shouldn't be doing any physical activity while on it. Like, zero aerobic sports; just the absolute bare minimum of movement.

Anyone else feeling totally wiped out from taking Sumamed? I’m on day 4 of my course and still have two more days left to go. But man, I am exhausted. Just completely drained.

I’m actually sitting here right now nursing a dose of Augmentin for these sinus issues, and honestly—I feel absolutely wiped out. I can't quite tell if this total exhaustion is coming from the constant pain and my nose being completely stuffed up, or if it’s just the medication itself kicking in. 🤷
