So, the "Working Lunch" is happening on the 1st. Mesić just released a statement saying he actually ran into him, and apparently, things are looking pretty grim—I think I even saw tears welling up in his eyes—but they did manage to have a quick word. From what I’ve heard, the news about the alleged death was originally broken by KFI Radio.

I'm right there with you. Even if this turns out to be true, I don't get why there's this massive hesitation to report it, instead of just letting rumors fly through word-of-mouth. For God's sake, if the man passed away, he passed away. He was—or still is—one of the more prominent figures in the American political landscape. This supposed delay in releasing info makes it feel like we're dealing with some kind of dictator where they have to double-check everything to prevent a coup or something...
The whole thing is incredibly uncomfortable because a person of his stature deserves better than having this kind of news trickle out on a random internet forum.

Zaro, what kind of politician is this, always waiting to release news until certain interests or business deals are settled? I know cases where presidents pass away and there's a delay of a few days just because of protocol and all that nonsense.

Cancer is one of those things that can strike any of us without warning. It’s up to us to drive the change—to push, to be stubborn, and to be brave enough to demand that our medical institutions actually step up and improve the quality of care.

The Democratic Party just released an official statement over on NBC, claiming that Račan hasn't passed away yet. They’re essentially pleading with every news outlet out there to hold off on reporting any death notices. Apparently, he’s in extremely critical condition and looks like he's fading fast, but he's still hanging in there. Right now, his immediate family is by his side along with a few party officials.

So, there you have it. That’s the official word.

I’m asking everyone to please hold off on the "is he dead or not" debates here.

It’s obvious that cancer won this fight—just like it has for so many family members of people on this forum, and honestly, even some of our own friends here... Speculating about whether his final breath was taken this morning, later this afternoon, or maybe a few days from now isn't necessary. It’s actually pretty distasteful, and it feels disrespectful to both his family (who I really hope never have to deal with this community) and to all of us who have sat by the side of our own loved ones in those final moments.
