Pregnant or not?

So, here’s the situation... my period was supposed to start on December 26th. Since then, I’ve taken two pregnancy tests, and both came back positive. But then, yesterday and today, I started dealing with this intense abdominal pain. When I woke up this morning, I realized I had bled heavily—so, I guess it's my period?! But how does that even make sense? Two positive tests and now, just 12 days later, I'm bleeding... if you can even call it a period at this point. 🙄
Anyway, I managed to get an appointment with my doctor for Tuesday, but I was wondering if anyone has any advice or thoughts in the meantime...

A spontaneous miscarriage?
I mean, pregnancy tests are pretty damn accurate, and you even went ahead and took two of them.

It doesn't necessarily have to be spontaneous. Bleeding isn't completely off the table during pregnancy, especially in those early stages.

So, yeah, implantation bleeding is definitely a thing, but it’s usually pretty light and looks a bit different than your regular period... honestly, I'd just wait until you can talk to your doctor. Fingers crossed you get the result you're looking for 👍

Intense pain, heavy bleeding... honestly, that's pretty textbook for a miscarriage during this window, so it can definitely feel like a really heavy period.

I didn't really follow that part about the pain.😵
But if it's a miscarriage, wouldn't the pain be genuinely excruciating? Like, enough to make you head straight to the ER?😕

When the pregnancy is that early on, things just sort of resolve themselves naturally.
But, I guess, just to be safe, she should probably go get checked out by a doctor anyway.

Hmm... let’s not get ahead of ourselves. It might not be spontaneous, since pseudo-menstrual bleeding can occur alongside pregnancy for up to three months.
But you definitely should have headed to the ER as soon as possible...
Don't wait for an appointment at the local women's clinic...

Maybe it was an ectopic pregnancy...

Or just one of those things that happens to about 60% of women...

I think you mean 60% *don't* experience bleeding or pain after getting two positive pregnancy tests.

They are, obviously, but when you combine bleeding with sharp abdominal pain, the most likely culprit is a miscarriage.👎

I honestly don't get why she didn't just head straight to her OB-GYN after seeing a positive test instead of taking more tests and trying to play doctor herself.🙄

With an early pregnancy like hers, there’s little point in rushing to the clinic. You won't see a heartbeat or even a sac until at least six weeks—maybe eight if ovulation was late. If things are fine, there's no immediate need to go.

Emerald City, get to the ER; they should take you without much fuss. Bleeding usually signals the start of a miscarriage, which typically means bed rest and progesterone supplements. Don't wait. Get to a doctor now, if you haven't already.

Man... I can't help but think about this friend of mine... she was pregnant (tests were positive) and then just a week later, she was out doing some stuff when she suddenly got this sharp pain in her stomach. She rushed to the bathroom and there was just blood everywhere... She ended up at the ER... had a miscarriage... so if you see a little spotting on your underwear, it doesn't necessarily mean anything bad is happening... In her case, it was literally an endless flow of blood. 😢

Go see a doctor...

Thanks to everyone for the advice... I ended up seeing my OB-GYN earlier than expected, and it turns out I had a miscarriage.

I was just at the clinic here in Chicago seeing my OBGYN, but honestly? I’m terrified to even get my hopes up. I've been spotting, and now I'm spiraling thinking about the risk of a miscarriage. My doctor—she's great, but super cautious—already scheduled me to come back in a week for another blood test and a follow-up. Has anyone else dealt with spotting during that first month? Like, could it just be some weird implantation bleeding or a false period? Also, I have this little cyst on my uterus... what do you guys think?
