Detour is a solid band. I caught them live a few years back, and they sound just as polished as their studio recordings. Their flaw? Zero stage presence. They perform like they’re singing only to themselves, which kills the energy. Still, the songwriting is top-tier and Maya has an incredible voice. She’s mostly seen in supporting roles with the Krempels troupe, but her session work is impressive. It’s always a pleasure to listen to her.

I also really enjoy the track where she features with Noxin:

What bothers me is the condescension they show toward artists in other genres; you can hear it when they talk about Yammat, too. Perhaps their talent gives them a pass, but their interviews often reveal a certain lack of cultural awareness. Maybe they shouldn't be so quick to judge others...

Gary Patel said:I just went through the album What if... and I gotta say, it’s a really sweet listen. It feels warm, honest, and totally unpretentious...
The melodies are great; they're clever without trying too hard. The lyrics feel like they were written for happy couples, or maybe people hoping to become one!😍 Though, I guess there’s stuff in there for those who aren't exactly in the "happy couple" phase anymore either. 😒

Flower, Nothing, Snow, Far Away, New Hope, I'm Dancing Alone, Circles and Smiles, Big Heartβ€”those are the tracks that jumped out at me on the first listen. I haven't checked out their older stuff, so I can't really compare, but this band definitely seems to have some serious potential!

This album is just awesome, seriously!!!πŸ™‚
Snow completely won me over right away; I actually went out and bought the CD because of it. It started snowing for the first time while I was driving and listening to that track, and man, it just hit me immediately. Lines like "Tim was left alone" or "Someone like us was here"β€”kind of reminds me of those classic cosmic rock vibes? Maybe an homage to UjeviΔ‡.πŸ™‚ I am honestly obsessed with that song.

Far Away is also great. It's got that sort of girl power vibe. πŸ™‚

Big Heart has a killer chorus, but the rest of the lyrics, for crying out loud... what even is that?

From the window, faces masked in hope play with smiles and unanswered questions

Left behind in the snow, the summer that's coming has already melted away

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, your big heart beats like a cannon, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, a sunny day is here in the North, but it makes me think of her

From the park window, mothers watch, their kids are laughing, you should laugh too, why wouldn't you?

Shadows are back in the city, and the upcoming summer is already warming you up

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, your big heart beats like a cannon, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, wild and seductive

Like when she walks and lifts her skirt above the knee and dances

Lost time isn't truly lost, that day always comes eventually

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, your big heart beats like a cannon, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, a sunny day is here in the North, but it makes me think of her

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, your big heart is huge, like an elephant, a sunny day in all of space, though it hasn't been here for a long time

I mean, WTF?

But whatever, I still love them. They're great.

Is anyone heading to their show on March 20th or 21st at Sax?

I hadn't even realized there was a dedicated thread for thisβ€”it was a pleasant surprise to stumble upon one, though I have to admit, seeing how quiet it’s been here is a bit of a letdown. 😁
They've finally dropped the TOURDETOUR album. You can find it streaming on Deezer. πŸ™‚Based on the singles aloneβ€”if my memory isn't failing meβ€”we've got Zaljubila sam se, Bez tebe, Biram, Vikend, and Skrivena.

I’m finding this new album a little underwhelming, honestly :/ I just can't get behind that predictable social commentaryβ€”it feels a lot like what you'd hear from Sars or DK (though Detour definitely put his own spin on it, naturally). It all feels a bit unoriginal, nothing truly groundbreaking.

That said, the track "picture of our day" is actually fantastic.πŸ‘
