I’m really curious if anyone here has actually used herbal remedies
to manage or even cure a serious chronic condition.
For minor stuff, I’ve definitely seen herbs make a difference—though, honestly, I can't tell if it was
just a placebo effect or the real deal.
I’d love to hear your personal stories and experiences.

I honestly don't think herbs alone can pull off a total cure for chronic illnesses. You might be able to manage the symptoms or keep things under control, but a complete fix? I’m skeptical about that.
What we *can* do, though, is lean into herbal remedies for prevention. For me, that mostly means sipping on different teas—nothing too crazy, just consistent stuff. Your body has a way of remembering how you treat it—kind of like karma, really—and I'm convinced it'll pay you back in kind, whether that's good or bad, sooner or later.

Just a heads-up though, you can't really expect those plants to kick in overnight; you've gotta stick with them for quite a while before you notice anything happening.

Kind of like most of those useless antibiotics our doctors push on us😬

I once heard a supposedly true story about a guy who managed to control his leukemia using some kind of fungus. Apparently, you add it to milk to ferment it into something resembling kefir, and they claim it can even regulate blood sugar levels.
My mom actually cleared up her rheumatism by drinking chestnut brandy.
A neighbor of mine cured his varicose veins just by taking Ginkgo Biloba tablets.
I used to suffer from severe, frequent throat infections for about three years—every few months, without fail. I tried all sorts of natural remedies, but nothing worked until I finally went the antibiotic route. Once I quit smoking, the infections stopped entirely (honestly, I’d give anything to knock on wood right now and hope I don't catch something 🙂). It wasn't life-threatening, but it was nasty enough.

Which specific illness are you looking into?

I have to say, it really depends on what kind of illness we’re talking about.
Last year, I was so sick that no doctor could figure out how to help me—until I went to a clinic in Pittsburgh that specializes in natural medicine. People talk about epilepsy like it's the end of the world, but that wasn't my issue. It turned out I had severe allergies to all sorts of foods and juices, yet some doctors were trying to tell me I had epilepsy.
They eventually pinpointed the food allergies and discovered I also have asthma, but honestly, nature isn't a magic fix here; I still have to take heavy-duty medications, including cortisone, just so I don't suffocate.
In this case, "natural remedies" aren't going to cut it.👍

Well, there are actually some effective remedies out there—if you wrap boiled barley in gauze and apply it as a compress around your neck, it can really help a sore throat (according to that book, Health from Walgreens)

James Palmer8, have you actually tried this? You can read all the nonsense they print at Walgreens, but at the end of the day, whatever happens, happens.

I honestly feel like phytotherapy—you know, using essential oils and herbal remedies—can actually be way more effective than just relying on any kind of harsh chemicals, though I suppose you really need to know what you're doing to pull that off safely. Personally, I barely touch conventional medicine at all, and I’ve pretty much been avoiding doctors entirely for something like ten years now, if that's even possible. I stick strictly to herbal preparations, essential oils, honey, and I'm really careful about what I eat. For me, the results have been nothing short of amazing, and my immune system feels better than ever!👍

Douglas Diaz2, do you have any recommendations for throat infections, bronchitis, or laryngitis—specifically the bacterial kind? Just in case I get hit again. These antibiotics absolutely wreck me. Every time I finish a course for a sore throat, I end up with a yeast infection. 😁

By the way, how did you become an expert in this? Books? Courses?

So, I’m holding this thing called "Little Wrap Practice" in German, written by an Anthroposophist—basically instructions for these gauze wrap treatments.
For a sore throat, lemon juice and MrBeast are supposedly the way to go.
You wrap it in gauze first; you definitely don't want to apply anything directly to your skin before wrapping it around your neck.
As for bronchitis, they suggest using mustard powder soaked in gauze. Just a heads-up though: you have to be incredibly careful because mustard powder can really sting and burn. You warm the gauze up, apply it over the bronchi, and then prepare yourself—it starts stinging like you've been attacked by a hundred wasps. You can probably brave it for maybe ten minutes before you need to wash it off, apply some eucalyptus oil, wrap yourself up tight, and call it a day.
I'm pretty sure if you look online, you'll find plenty of these kinds of home remedies.

Does anyone happen to know of any natural remedies for soothing thyroid inflammation? I’m asking for an elderly person who has been diagnosed with clear issues in that area...

I honestly think the real magic with herbal remedies lies in the long game—you have to stick with them over time to actually see results. I also suspect the placebo effect plays a massive role here, since someone relying on natural herbs is usually fueled by this deep-seated hope that they’ll get better,
which really seems to drive the whole self-healing process.

It seems to me that there is an immense importance placed on... healing

Hold on just a second! What do you mean by "placebo effect"? Think about it for a moment—the vast majority of medications we recognize and rely on today are nothing more than preparations derived from specific botanical sources! There are so many conditions that can truly be managed "naturally," simply through the power of plants 👍
Now that I am personally trained in phytotherapy and aromatherapy, I can speak to this from experience. Looking back at my own early days, I’ll admit I had my fair share of skeptical moments—we all do—but, believe me, there is absolutely no room for doubt. Plants and essential oils can profoundly assist in resolving numerous issues... yes, including chronic ones too! 😍

If we actually had something like that here in the States, I wouldn't even hesitate!
The problem is, we've still got this massive wave of snake oil salesmen running around—all these "gurus" and herbalists trying to sell you absolute garbage as if it's some miracle cure...

I've tried pretty much everything available over here—herbal remedies, homeopathy, acupuncture, you name it.

Honestly, the only thing that actually seemed to move the needle was acupuncture, and that was because the guy treating me was an actual MD—trained right here at home before specializing in acupuncture abroad.

All those other charlatans? They just emptied my wallet... and the worst part wasn't even the money, it was the false hope they peddled for absolutely nothing.

In my opinion, traditional medicine is still basically 👍

Oh, and by the way, how did you actually become an expert in all this? Was it through reading books, or maybe taking some specific courses?

I definitely have some ideas, but please, just send me a private message instead. I really don't want to get dogpiled by certain people on here over my advice. 😲
