Anger is a total disaster, there’s no debating that, but what really gets under my skin is how people constantly trash Load, Reload, and Garage Inc. Those records are actually solid; they’re packed with some seriously great tracks if you give them a chance. Plus, everyone seems to forget that during that whole "bad era," they put out S&M, which is easily one of the greatest live albums in metal history.
The early stuff is obviously top-tier, peak thrash. 🙏
I’m hoping the new record turns out way better than Anger, though I don't expect it to be a carbon copy of their old style. Back then, they were just kids, fueled by punk energy and that whole anarchy vibe. There was just more fire in them. These days, they've got kids of their own, which has definitely mellowed them out a bit.
Yeah, Hetfield's vocals aren't what they used to be, but they sound more mature now. I actually caught a video recently where his voice sounded almost fully recovered (can't remember the link though).
At the end of the day, they're a legendary band. Mad respect to them. 👍
P.S.: Lars isn't a bad drummer by any means. He might be a bit of a jerk personally, but his sense of rhythm is rock solid.
