Looking for this specific album:
The Beatles ‎– Mono Masters (3LP).

Link

So, here’s the deal—what I’m really after is finding this set in Mint condition (though I suppose I could settle for some decent VG+), and ideally without getting absolutely fleeced.
Usually, you’d expect to see it around $50-$60, but right now people are asking $130 or more, and then there's the whole shipping headache on top of that...

Obviously, $130 is way out of my ballpark—I was really hoping to snag this triple album for something closer to fifty bucks.
And honestly, I’d love to dodge those shipping costs altogether, especially when dealing with orders coming from other parts of the US—so if anyone happens to spot this in a local shop or on some American site...☕

So, what I’m really hoping for is to snag this thing in Mint condition—or maybe even just VG+ if we're being generous—and actually get a decent deal on it.
Usually, it goes for around $50, but right now people are asking $120, and then you've still got shipping to worry about...

$120 is obviously way out of my budget; I was really thinking more along the lines of fifty bucks for this triple LP.

🤣 You're a good person. Honestly, me too. But man, how realistic is that goal? I say the same thing about certain records where they're listed for a hundred bucks, but I'm sitting there thinking I should only pay twenty. 😁

But look, if the market price is around a hundred like you're looking for, how is a reseller supposed to make a profit if they sell it to you for half that? It just doesn't add up. The only way you'll pull that off is by scavenging online for someone who has no clue what they have and accidentally lists it too low. Or maybe, if you get super lucky and find someone who desperately needs cash right this second. Otherwise, honestly, don't hold your breath.
I mean, I feel like most record prices are inflated anyway—like, way overpriced. But there's not much anyone can do about it. If people stop paying those crazy prices, then eventually the values will drop, maybe even by a huge margin, after a few years pass. But if people keep throwing money at them, then naturally, the seller isn't going to budge. It's just logic. It's the buyers' fault, not the sellers'.

analogbear40 said:Pink Floyd - Discovery (16CD Box Set) (includes a 60-page booklet) + every individual album booklet includes lyrics

US edition.

Brand new and still sealed.

The shrink wrap has partially peeled away in a few spots, as you can see in the photos.

Downtown area - local pickup available by arrangement.

I’m also open to trading CD box sets from various artists or potentially some vinyl... provided you have something I'm looking for.

https://www.discogs.com/Pink-Floyd-D...elease/3146262

Well, there it is. It sat there for over six months and nobody bit.

Basically, my collection of box sets has grown quite large... I've got some duplicates piling up, and it's high time I cleared them out.

Aside from this Discovery box set mentioned above, I'm also offering...

The Velvet Underground - Peel Slowly & See (VG+/VG)

https://www.discogs.com/release/3690...Slowly-And-See

I won't list specific prices because my main goal here is a trade...

I'll be adding more box sets to the list soon.
If you pick up any of these, you can grab this one for free:

https://www.discogs.com/release/1954...ate-Collection

Ultimate Rock & New Wave - a somewhat uniquely compiled 5CD digipack set featuring mostly new wave mixed with some classic rock, hard rock, and even a touch of metal.

The outer cover is a bit frayed, which isn't the prettiest look, but the discs themselves are untouched.

Perfect for the car ride...

Honestly, it’s probably going to take you longer than six months to move that stuff. Nobody around here really buys CDs anymore. As for vinyl, people mostly hunt for rare gems; otherwise, they’d rather just hit up Amoeba Music or some other local shop instead of buying from classified ads.

I’ve been trying to sell some high-quality stuff for about a year now and, man, nobody’s biting. I’ve got two pressings of a Mother and Discipline CD that I bought up—the rest is still sitting with the major labels—and I managed to sell maybe ten copies over in Mexico. I sold one single CD in Los Angeles, and that was basically it for the whole year. My vinyl is all rare stuff and isn't cheap, so that's why it moves slowly; I've got one at $100 and three others at that price point. Then there's this one single $13. I even have two cassettes by Orgasm, still in the shrink wrap, going for $13 each—those are leftovers I couldn't move at a concert.

This situation is probably going to drag on for years. I mean, I’m sitting on something like 130 copies of one Discipline album and 62 copies of an album by Mother. I really need to move them... but nobody touches CDs. They're all still in the plastic, too—albums that are 10 years old. I'm looking at $23 per unit. So they just sit there. And honestly, whatever, let them sit.
Maybe fifteen or twenty years ago, all of this would have vanished in a heartbeat. But nowadays.....

It’s kind of a bummer that the newer generations didn't grow up with physical media. I don't know, it feels like they're almost handicapped in a way, because they just don't have that connection to the actual object. You can really see that playing out now. And the older crowd? They aren't buying much either, except for that tiny niche group that mostly just scrolls through Discogs or heads down to places like Amoeba or Freebird..

Our only real shot is if CDs—or physical media in general—make a massive comeback globally. Since people here tend to follow trends like sheep, once it catches on there, it'll blow up here too. You know how it is—once something becomes a thing in the US or the UK, it hits us immediately.

Otherwise, this selling process is going to stretch out for another ten years.

Otherwise, this whole sales trend won't last more than ten years.

It isn't just the kids who have lost interest in physical media; the format itself is just impractical. You can fit endless music on a phone or a USB drive. You plug it into the car via Bluetooth and you're good. Honestly, I barely listen to anything at home anymore.

I think I'm going to sell off my vinyl collection. I haven't actually listened to them in at least 20 years.

What's the market like right now for classic American New Wave records, and where's the best place to list them?

Just let me know if you're interested in buying... especially if you're hunting for some New Wave stuff...

Is anyone actually looking to pick anything up?

Honestly, I’m only letting go of things I already have doubles of...

Does anyone know how much those classic American New Wave records are going for lately, and where’s the best place to list them?

I'm specifically hunting for two records from Discipline—Green Tooth on Planet So Far and Surprise Sensation. Don't even ask me how I managed to lose track of my copies years ago, it just happened.

I'm also looking for the first two releases by Colored Program, the first two from Girls, and that album 'Why Not' by Orgasm. I'd love some singles from Discipline like Noise in Mode and Green Tooth, plus that EP by Kroejša called Friendship Old Craft.

The condition really matters—they need to be Near Mint or Mint. And please, the prices shouldn't be anywhere near those crazy high numbers you see on Discogs, because if I were willing to pay that much, I’d just go through Discogs in the first place.
There might be a few other records that catch my eye, but these are the big ones.

If you happen to have any of these, maybe drop a list here or just shoot me a private message? I'd rather keep it between us so this group doesn't try to snatch them up or start an auction war, then you can just post whatever is left over publicly later on. 😁 😉

I'm eyeing this specific Box Set:

https://www.discogs.com/release/2101...Val-Antologija

I’d much rather do a trade, but if things don't pan out, I'm open to just buying it outright with cash.

I noticed there are some local listings popping up on Discogs, so if any of the sellers
want to cut a deal through here, please reach out with an offer.

I can also do a local pickup in downtown Chicago.

Anyone else catch this?

Track 24 on Disc 2 shows up in the Box Set tracklist, but it’s nowhere to be found on the actual CD audio.
It isn't some mistake, either—there's an explanation for it right in the booklet.

So they just list a song that isn't even on the disc? What a joke. I wouldn't waste five bucks on this, let alone the full price. Who knows what other nonsense is hidden in this box.

It’s not a mistake, though—there's an explanation tucked away in the booklet.

So, they basically listed a song that isn't even on the CD. What a joke. I wouldn't drop five bucks on something like that. It makes you wonder what other nonsense is hiding inside this box set.

Yeah... interesting... I hadn't noticed that until now.

At the end of the day, my main priority was seeing stuff like City, Greece, Mirror, Xenia, and Paraf properly represented... which they are. But still, what happened above is definitely a major oversight.

This is a bit off-topic, but I can't seem to find the right thread here

I know they aren't exactly top-tier, but (unfortunately) they're my only real option since I don't have any decent storage space at my place

So, what are the best portable record players out there? From what I've gathered, most of the good ones are actually vintage models

On that note, is there anywhere around the greater New York City area where I could actually track down one of those older units?

Or, if I go modern, what’s the best new player where you can actually swap out the needle when it wears down? 🙂

I'm looking for Heroin, not New Heroine—so yeah, I need that specific one from the 90s.
