Rush Hour

I caught this on network TV a couple of days ago and thought it was a killer action comedy, so I decided to give it another spin today. It’s basically the sequel to the hit High Noon (2000), but this time there's way more laughs and we finally get a true Jackie Chan action flick tailored for an American audience. Wilson is actually pretty hilarious, and Fann Wong kills it during the fight scenes 🙏; plus, she's definitely easier on the eyes than Ziya Zhang (Memoirs of a Geisha, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero). There are so many standout moments, like that pillow fight, or when that bald guy suddenly bursts in 😂.
Then there's that part where Wang's sister absolutely wrecks Jack the Ripper, tosses him into the river, and calls him a "fucking loser" 😬 (the subtitles were a bit rough there), not to mention Chan's take on Singin' in the rain...

It's a decent watch, but there are definitely better films from that era of Asian cinema before everything went Hollywood. 🙂

Yeah, the Police Story series. And God's Armor. Pure legend. But High Noon is solid, and that actress—Chan's sister—is honestly a total knockout. When are we finally getting Gas Pedal 3?

Actually, he was also in The Fifth Element and Dogma. He mainly does stand-up comedy now, if I recall correctly. Plus that cameo in Me, Myself & Irena...
